CAPTIONNot even a full year has passed since the worldwide release of "The Dark Knight," but that doesn't stop the rumor mill from churning like mad. Some of these reports are fun to read -- if only because of how surprising they are -- but others? Not so much.

Case in point is the latest rumor on the "Batman 3" front, which says that Christopher Nolan might not return for another installment. Batman-On-Film has heard from a trusted source that Nolan's attachment to a third outing is far from a sealed deal, and may in fact be a long shot. Read More...

Yesterday, “Wanted” director Timur Bekmabetov told a Russian news outlet that he planned to bring Angelina Jolie back for the upcoming sequel to last year's hit film loosely based on the Mark Millar and J.G. Jones series. While the news had everyone who's seen the film buzzing for fairly obvious reasons (given her character's final scene), there were a few other reasons we were a bit skeptical of the news around Splash Page HQ.

Take, for instance, this interview conducted with Jolie during the run-up to the "Wanted" premiere last year:

While Jolie seems to indicate in no uncertain terms that her character isn't likely to return for a sequel, there's always the chance that she was being coy and didn't want to reveal anything about the plot, right? Well, that's not all that has us scratching our heads. Read More...

Spider-Man 4 Fan PosterSure, there's no script, cast or firm commitments from anyone potentially involved with "Spider-Man 4," but that hasn't stopped the online word from speculating about potential elements of the next film in Sony's "Spider-Man" movie franchise.

Earlier this month, pics from the annual Licensing Expo in Las Vegas gave us our first look at a promotional poster for the fourth film in the Spidey franchise and kick-started discussion about what it could mean for the film. (Some sites have reported hearing from a mysterious, anonymous source at the studio that the poster wasn't official, but as far as we know, it's the real deal.) A short time later, fan-made posters riffing on the mysterious "4" also hit the 'Net, featuring some interesting takes on the much-anticipated film... and who they'd like to see in the cast. William ShatnerIf there's one spot to showcase a new comic on late night television, it's probably "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien." Besides sharing a name with U.S. President Barack Obama's favorite comic book barbarian, the Tonight Show host and former "The Simpsons" scribe has been a fan of the medium for many years.

It's no surprise then, that sci-fi legend and friend of the show, William Shatner would choose this outlet to promote his latest comic effort, "William Shatner Presents: The Tek War Chronicles" (which we exclusively previewed here on Splash Page last month). Read More...

For many Bat-fans, 1992's "Batman Returns" is regarded as the best Batman film of the pre-Christopher Nolan era. While it sacrificed Jack Nicholson's impressive Joker for Danny DeVito's oily Penguin, it evolved beyond a feature-length Prince video and presented audiences with the darkest take on Gotham's Dark Knight up to that point.

It also put Michelle Pfeiffer in a skin-tight Catwoman suit -- possibly the greatest triumph of any Batman film to date.

That's why, during a recent press event for Pfeiffer's upcoming film "Cheri," we had to ask her what she thought about the current crop of "Batman 3" rumors involving the return of a certain feline-fixated felon.

"You would think so," Pfeiffer told MTV News when asked whether she thought Catwoman would return to Batman movies with Nolan behind the camera. "They better... They should!" Read More...

Eliza DushkuBy Terri Schwartz

With fan rebellion worldwide against the purported Joss Whedon-less “Buffy,” ex-vampire slaying actress Eliza Dushku said being asked about the reboot is something she’s gotten familiar with in recent interviews.

“I go to Joss’s parties. I’ll just leave it at that,” Dushku told MTV News.

Dushku, who played Faith in Whedon’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” television series and its subsequent spin-off “Angel,” expressed no interest in the film or reprising her character in it, though she was not approached like “Buffy” creator Whedon was. With fan interest echoing the same sentiments, it seems like the only people who have interest in the film are oblivious moviegoers and “Twilight” fans looking for an Edward Cullen fix. Read More...

Captain AmericaBy now you already know about the return of the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, after his death at the hands of an agent of The Red Skull back in 2007. Announced just yesterday in a media blitz that had comics fans everywhere saying "I told you so," the end of Rogers' long hiatus (in comics time, at least) was the news everyone was waiting to hear about since, well... the news of his death.

"Captain America" writer Ed Brubaker, who scripted the character's death and will also be scripting the five-issue "Reborn" series featuring Rogers' return, has already gone on record saying the gone-and-back strategy was planned from the very start. So, while response to Rogers' return has been mixed (with many of the most vocal critics of his death now equally critical about his return), the most important question coming out of the media frenzy could be the simplest: why did he have to die in the first place? We3Grant Morrison might be riding high thanks to his high profile "Batman and Robin" series, but it's his creator-owned work that gets us most excited when it comes to comic books on film. Today, there's word on one such project: "We3."

Don Murphy, one of the producers of the planned adaptation of Morrison's graphic novel, spoke with Sci Fi Wire about the film. According to the producer, "We3" is ready with a script and a director -- all it needs now is a studio. Read More...

The WaspsFor most people, spending time with their grandparents consists of leisurely outings or afternoon chats. In the upcoming "The Wasps" comic book and feature film, one pilot's quality time with grandma comes in the form of shooting down Nazi aircraft.

Based the true exploits of the women who served the United States Army Airforce during World War II, collectively known as WASP (Women Air Service Pilots), the comic tells the story of a time-displaced Air Force pilot from modern times who ends up flying alongside his WASP grandmother and battling Nazis in pursuit of a mysterious artifact. X-Men Origins: GambitThis week was a little light for comics with movie and television connections, but there were still some titles worth calling out for anyone who likes their weekly serving of comics with a side of media crossover appeal.

TOP OF THE STACK: "X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT" #1 (Marvel) -- While Remy LeBeau has a lot more fans these days thanks to his big-screen debut in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," mainstream audiences (and comics fans whose interests don't fall along the X-Men axis) probably aren't as savvy to his sordid past. Marvel looks to clear all that confusion up with this one-shot that delves into Gambit's criminal past -- and how he became one of the most popular heroes in the mutant universe.

Written by Mike Carey with art by David Yardin, this could be a great series to pick up if you're looking to prep for the inevitable Gambit solo movie or just want to fill in the blanks in your mutant memory. Read More...
