Kick-AssLast week's double dose of news related to "Kick-Ass," Matthew Vaughn's live-action adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic book series, was the first we'd heard about the project in quite a while -- and apparently, it wasn't entirely accurate, either.

While Millar did indeed say that a sequel for the film was already in the works, we've received an update/correction of sorts regarding the other piece of news regarding the official "Kick-Ass" movie book scheduled for release by Titan Books. According to the publisher, the cover image that had been circulating for the book wasn't in a finished state -- and the release date for the book isn't actually September, as was previously indicated.

However, they did provide us with a new, closer-to-done image of the "Kick-Ass" cover (though still unfinished), and offered some thoughts on when we'll see the book on shelves. Read More...

Green LanternOver the past few weeks, we've been getting plenty of superhero casting scoops on the Marvel front (we're looking at you, Thor and Loki), but the DC Comics side of the aisle has been fairly blank, specifically regarding one of our most hotly-awaited films, "Green Lantern."

Sure, there are a whole slew of contenders for the coveted role of Hal Jordan, but not a one of them has been named officially as of yet -- and that's because no one has been selected yet, said screenwriter Marc Guggenheim. Read More...

Jackie Earle HaleyJackie Earle Haley has made quite the on-screen comeback starring as Rorschach in "Watchmen" and as Freddy Krueger in "Nightmare on Elm Street," so it only makes sense to wonder -- what's he doing on television?

To be fair, Haley's small screen arrival comes in the form of "Human Target," the new Fox series based on the DC comic book. Still, as some see network television as less reputable than film work, Haley's decision to star in the show might appear questionable. Apparently, it's not a notion lost on the actor himself. Captain AmericaHate to say we told you so, but... we told you so! As many have predicted over the past few months, Marvel is resurrecting the champ -- more specifically, Captain America is coming back to life.

The giant-sized 600th issue of "Captain America" saw a special early release today, accompanied by a Daily News article in which Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada confirmed the revival of Steve Rogers, who was assassinated more than two years ago. Rogers' return is only hinted at in the new issue, with his full-fledged arrival set for the pages of "Captain America: Reborn," a five-issue series from Ed Brubaker and Bryan Hitch.

But before the announcement was made, Quesada said that the return of Steve Rogers wasn't the wildest rumor he'd heard in connection to the new "Reborn" series -- some fans were expecting "Reborn" to herald a major Marvel Studios casting announcement. Read More...

Last week, reports surfaced that "Twilight" star Cam Gigandet would be playing a vampire on screen again in a live-action adaptation of "Priest," a popular manga series published by TokyoPop.

But hold the phone, "Twilight" fans, it appears that tales of his blood-sucking role have been greatly exaggerated. During a press event for his upcoming film "The Roommate," the actor said there's been a slight misunderstanding when it comes to his "Priest" character.

"I think there was some miscommunication that I was a vampire," Gigandet told MTV News, "but that's not the case. I'm not a vampire." Read More...

Wanted 2How do you make a sequel to a movie in which almost every main character winds up dead? According to one report from a Russian news outlet, "Wanted" director Timur Bekmabetov plans to answer that very question by bringing back Angelina Jolie and possibly others in the next installment.

Bekmabetov told RIA Novosti, a Russian news site, that he's already begun preparations for "Wanted 2," a sequel to the 2008 actioneer based on Mark Millar and J.G. Jones' comic book. According to the site, the director promised the return of Jolie, despite her character's send-off in the first movie. Read More...

Teresa PalmerWhile we're not suggesting you hold your breath waiting to see George Miller's live-action "Justice League" movie, that doesn't mean we're not intrigued with the fact that such a film almost happened -- and taking every opportunity possible to find out more about it.

At a recent press event for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," MTV News spoke to actress Teresa Palmer, who was once the rumored front-runner to play Talia Al Ghul in "Justice League: Mortal" before a host of issues stalled the project indefinitely. While Palmer confirmed that she was -- and still is -- tagged to play the daughter of Batman villain Ra's Al Ghul, that was where her certainty ended about any aspect of the film. Read More...

Swag ReportThings can get pretty hectic around Splash Page HQ sometimes, but one of the constant reminders of just how great a job I have is the arrival of new books, movies and other comics-related swag each day. Whether it's comics I've heard of but never got around to reading, movies or television series I need to catch up on, or any number of cool, strange or otherwise funky toys to populate my already-crowded desk, every day brings a new package, it seems.

That's why I've decided to pick a few of the items I received in the mail each week and post a photo of them here on Splash Page, with a few thoughts about each one. Maybe you're already familiar with one of them and can offer some thoughts of your own, or maybe I'll be the first to tell you about something cool that flew under your radar. Either way, I'm just looking forward to reading what you have to say about them -- so don't hesitate to chime in with a comment or two.

So, let's begin, shall we? Read More...
