It's hard to believe that we're still getting casting news this late into the production of "Iron Man 2," but that is indeed the case -- a new actress has entered the ring.
Variety reports that Olivia Munn, host of G4's "Attack of the Show," has landed an unspecified role in "Iron Man 2," currently filming with director Jon Favreau at the helm. While her part in the movie remains unclear, some guesses have been made by fans and websites alike -- many of which have been addressed by the actress herself. Read more...

Brian Austin Green's name has been brought up in connection to Gotham City and even as a candidate for the Green Lantern corps, but one thing that is a certainty for the former "90210" actor is this -- he's got a bone to pick with Clark Kent.
A casting scoop from TV Guide claims that Green has landed the role of Metallo on "Smallville," the long-running Superman television series on the CW Network. He'll initially appear as John Corben, a Daily Planet journalist turned kryptonite-powered supervillain. The actor is expected to stick around for "at least the first two episodes," a stint that begins on September 25. Read more...

Man, there's almost nothing we wouldn't give to be in the same room as "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada -- because from the way that Quesada talks about it, the former two's grasp on the Thunder God is nothing short of electric.
In his latest Cup O' Joe column, Quesada detailed his interactions with Branagh and Feige, citing one specific meeting as "one of the highlights of my time here at Marvel" and filled with plenty of theatrics from the director and studio executive. Read more...

I could go on and on here about how this clip connects to comics, mentioning all of the great "Transformers" comics published by IDW these days (and various other publishers in the past), or Shia LaBeouf's recent statement regarding rumors that he'll star in the "Y: The Last Man" movie, but is any of that really necessary?
Simply put, this is a video of the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" star explaining his love for -- and singing -- the Stan Bush song "The Touch" from the 1986 animated "Transformers" movie. That's all you should need to know to appreciate this clip.
Oh, and by the way, if you don't consider "The Touch" to be one of the greatest songs ever written, I don't think we can be friends.
What do you think of Shia's vocal stylings? Is "The Touch" one of the greatest songs ever written, or THE greatest song ever written? Explain your position.

There's still no confirmation that Evan Rachel Wood will play the female lead in "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," the upcoming Broadway musical directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a score by U2, but as we've been reporting here on Splash Page, that's not the only highly anticipated Spidey project without official word on its Mary Jane.
That's why, at a recent press event for Wood's upcoming film "Whatever Works," we had to ask the actress if she had any update on her potential role in the "Spider-Man" musical -- and whether she'd be willing to reprise it on the big screen if the "Spider-Man 4" team comes calling.
"I would do anything that Julie Taymor directs, because she's incredible and would never steer me wrong," Wood told MTV News, describing "Turn Off The Dark" as "a rock and roll circus show." Read more...

On the surface, it might look like M. Night Shyamalan has moved on from "Unbreakable," the director's fourth feature film. After all, he's already hip-deep in production on "The Last Airbender," his adaptation of the popular animated series -- does he really have enough room in his geek bone to revisit the moody superhero film?
During a recent press event, Shyamalan addressed that very question as put forth by MTV News -- is he still considering "Unbreakable 2"? According to the director, that answer is a resounding yes. Read more...

The funny thing about being the editor of Splash Page is that it's not the sort of job you leave at the office -- and usually, that's okay by me. When I'm not writing about comic books and comic book movies or otherwise managing the stories you come here for every day, I'm talking to people about comics over lunch, on the subway, over drinks or as happened to be the case this week, as the special guest on The Flickcast audio podcast.
The Flickcast crew invited me to join them this week in their regular discussion of comics, gaming, movies and related geekery, and while I was happy to share some thoughts (okay, a lot of thoughts -- I tend to ramble), I'm starting to think that voicing my love for the 2005 "Man-Thing" movie might not have been the best career move. The ever-delayed movie adaptation of Greg Rucka's "Whiteout," whose artist Steve Lieber was Splash Page's first "Cover Artist," may finally be nearing a theatrical release, if a leaked trailer this week is any indication.
Though the trailer was taken down, the snowcapped glimpse of stars Kate Beckinsdale and Gabriel Macht still tags the film for release in 2009. That should please Rucka, who as of New York Comic Con earlier this year seemed excited about director Dominic Sena's attention to detail. Read more...

Just when the "Batman" news couldn't possibly get more depressing, here comes Neil Patrick Harris to save the day. The former Dr. Horrible is going head-to-head with the Dark Knight -- in animated form, at least.
The "How I Met Your Mother" actor will provide the voice for the Music Meister, a brand-new villain created specifically for "Batman: The Brave and the Bold." Harris' character will appear in an episode called "Mayhem of the Music Meister!," set to debut during Comic-Con International. Read more...

Producer David Uslan, who already has an adaptation in the works for his Future Comics series "Freemind," has just set his sights on bringing another property to life in Hollywood, but this time the honor belongs to author Ian Beck's 2007 children's book "The Secret History of Tom Trueheart."
The book joins other children's tales such as "Coraline" and "Dear Dracula" that movie makers have recently eyed for their young audience appeal. Read more...
