Earlier today we heard that the upcoming adaptation of John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass" will feature animated sequences and some significant differences from the comic book, but now we have yet another piece of news regarding the much-anticipated Matthew Vaughn film -- two pieces of news, in fact.
First, we have a brand new image from the set of "Kick-Ass" featuring actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin' in "Superbad") suited up as costumed vigilante The Red Mist.
And it just so happens that Mintz-Plasse factors into our second piece of exclusive news, too.
I'm happy to announce that at this year's Comic-Con International, Minz-Plasse will join Vaughn and comic co-creator John Romita Jr. at the Thursday (July 23) "Kick-Ass" panel, which will also feature the first look at footage from the film.
In the film, Minz-Plasse plays Chris D’Amico, a young vigilante inspired by the exploits of Dave Lizewski, the unlikely hero the series/film is named after. Aaron Johnson plays Lizewski, and the actor has been seen in his green-and-yellow costume at various points during production.
Back in December, AICN reported that Minz-Plasse's costume was "like something some glam rock kid would have worn to a club in London in the ‘70s than like what we’re used to seeing in superhero films."
While "Kick-Ass" doesn't currently have a release date, Mintz-Plasse and Millar have both commented on the possibility of a sequel (with Millar saying it would shoot within two years) if the first film is well-received.
What do you think of the new "Kick-Ass" photo and news? Planning to catch the "Kick-Ass" panel at Comic-Con?
