With "The Losers" set for an April 16, 2010 release date, it's only a matter of time before the film starts production. Thanks to comic book artist Jock, we now have a specific timetable.
Over at Standard Attrition, the group blog for Vertigo Comics creators, Jock -- who illustrated "The Losers" alongside writer Andy Diggle -- reports that production starts in three weeks in Puerto Rico now that the casting phase is complete. Indeed, the main cast was finalized today as Holt McCallany signed aboard to play a mercenary named Wade in the film.
Not only is "The Losers" preparing for shooting, but Jock himself has been tasked with creating a one-sheet movie poster to be given away at San Diego Comic-Con.
"I'll be drawing a version of [the cover to] #12, with some likeness of the actors in placed of the traditional comic cast," Jock wrote. "I'll have to squeeze in Idris Elba as Roque too, so I guess he takes the place of the palm tree."

The original cover shows five of the six main characters. They are, clockwise from top left, Jensen (Chris Evans), Cougar (Oscar Jaenada), Pooch (Columbus Short), Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Aisha (Zoe Saldana).
As Jock mentioned, Elba's character is not pictured in the original cover. If the film's story sticks to that of the comic book's, then Roque is missing from the cover because -- wait, I'm not gonna tell you that. Go read the series!
"The Losers" also stars Jason Patric as Max, the man who betrayed Clay and the rest of the black ops squad. The aforementioned McCallany plays Wade, a special forces officer that has ties to the movie's heroes.
Are you excited to see Jock's "The Losers" poster? Do you think McCallany fits with the rest of the cast? Sound off in the comments!
