Kick-AssEarlier today I posted a breakdown of the footage from the "Kick-Ass" panel and the first look it provided at the father-daughter vigilantes played by Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz. While the footage certainly looked great, there's still some question about when we'll actually be able to see "Kick-Ass" in theaters.

Director Matthew Vaughn had some interesting news on that aspect of the project, too.

During the Q&A portion of the panel that followed the video, the director said he expects "Kick-Ass" to hit theaters in the 1st quarter of 2010. According to Vaughn, the film is 90-percent completed, with the music providing the only lingering issue. Read more...

This year's Comic-Con in San Diego is positively filled with celebrities, but it's no secret that the ratio of celebrities who are genuine comic book fans to those who simply have a project to sell has changed dramatically as the event's grown.

Consider it a blessing, then, that we have someone like Megan Fox. Not only does she know her comics, but she's starring in films based on 'em in "Jonah Hex" and "Fathom," and, well... she's not too hard on the eyes. During a promotional event for her upcoming Diablo Cody ("Juno") horror film "Jennifer's Body," we asked Fox to prove her geek cred to the Comic-Con masses.

"Obviously, Michael Turner was one of my favorite artists, so I want to go to his booth and look at some of the stuff," Fox told MTV News. "I want to go look at some Witchblade comics. And J. Scott Campbell, I'm a fan of him. I want to see if they have some 'Gen-13' around."

Cruikshank will take on the title role for the film about a an overly dramatic high school kid who believes he has "emo powers."

With "Coraline" dropping its DVD this week, it was naturally perfect timing for director Henry Selick and writer Neil Gaiman to bring their parade to the San Diego Comic-Con. We of course had the pair drop by our studio for an interview, and before they left we asked if they'd pose for our ever-growing photo booth. The result is below, check it out and then hit the gallery link for Stan Lee, Anna Faris and many others.

For obvious reasons, there was a lot of excitement around Splash Page's Comic-Con HQ when legendary comics creator Stan Lee dropped by for a chat.

In town to promote his new digital motion comic "Time Jumper," Lee shared his thoughts on the upcoming slate of Marvel Studios movies -- and the absence of one of his favorites, Sorcerer Supreme Dr. Strange.

"You know there are only so many movies that Marvel can do at one time or one after another, but I will promise you 'Dr. Strange' will be on the list," Lee told MTV News. "They just have to get to it. In fact, every one of the characters -- they're not going to let one go. Why should they?" Read more...

WantedThe curving bullets and hot kisses of "Wanted" could be returning to theaters quicker than anyone expected. The sequel, written by "Pooh's Heffalump" writer Evan Spiliotopoulos, reportedly has a finished script turned in, and the original comic book property's writer, Mark Millar, claims production is on a fast track.

Millar predicted that shooting for "Wanted 2" could begin within eight weeks' time, according to SuperHeroHype.com. The high-profile comics scribe, who created "Wanted" with artist J.G. Jones, offered his positive assessment of the the movie's productions timeline at Comic-Con this week during a conversation about "Kick-Ass." Read more...

Kick-AssIf Thursday's "Kick-Ass" movie panel is any indication, director Matthew Vaughn shouldn't have too much trouble bringing his live-action adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s ultraviolent comic book series to theaters.

Along with offering the very first peek at footage from the film, the "Kick-Ass" panel also provided the first look at the costumes worn by the father-daughter vigilante team played by Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz. Over the course of the panel, Vaughn was joined by screenwriter Jane Goldman, "Kick-Ass" creators Millar and Romita, and cast members Clark Duke, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and surprise guest Chloe Moretz. And much like Vaughn promised during our Comic-Con preview, he brought along four scenes from the first act of the film, as well as a montage of the remaining scenes.

The footage offered a great look at what looks to be every bit the faithful adaptation that Vaughn has promised from the start. Read more...

Neil GaimanThere's one day down and three more to go here in San Diego as our Comic-Con coverage continues.

Yesterday, we gave you the first look at the recently announced "Superman: Red Son" motion comic and the new "Jonah Hex" poster, as well as the first details on the characters Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz are likely to play in "The Green Hornet." We also talked with Brandon Routh about how he'd feel if the "Superman" movie franchise went on without him, and brought you the news of a pair of high-profile additions to the "Astro Boy" voice cast. And on top of all that, Stan Lee dropped by for a chat.

We know that's a hard act to follow, but here's what we have planned for Day Two! Read more...

Astro BoyI'm here in Hall H, where the room is packed with shrieking "Twilight" fans and the geeks that are trying their best to not have their ears shattered. Some big news, however, has already been made by "Astro Boy," the new adaptation of a sci-fi cartoon classic.

Moments before unveiling the eye-popping new trailer for the flick, Summit (the studio releasing "New Moon" and "Astro Boy) announced that two new actors had signed on to join Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Freddie Highmore and the rest. And they ain't lightweights.

Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron will be loaning their familiar pipes to the fall flick. Although it was not revealed which characters they'll be playing - and they could not be heard in the trailer- both are expected to voice prominent characters.

The trailer for Astro-Boy featured some amazing CG-animated footage of the boy robot, an enormous "Peacekeeper" evil robot, and even depicted a moment when Astro Boy comically discovers that he has machine guns in his butt. The clip also took the relatively-rare Comic Con approach of revealing several unfinished shots, encouraging fans to use their imagination.

Stay tuned to MTV News for further developments on Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron's roles in "Astro Boy," as well as other breaking Comic-Con news.

The projects on the docket include Mark Millar's "Superman: Red Son" (an alternate timeline tale where Superman landed in Communist Russia rather than Smallville, Kansas), "Batgirl: Year One" and "Batman: Black and White Collection 2."

The comics will be available through iTunes, with "Red Son" and "Batgirl" hitting the digital airwaves first. Catch a sneak peek at "Red Son" below, and then click here to download it for free.
