When "Paper Heart" star and co-writer Charlyne Yi dropped by Splash Page HQ during Comic-Con with some of her fellow filmmakers, the rising star revealed that her connection to the comics world goes well beyond co-star Michael Cera's lead role in "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World." In fact, instead of making a film based on a comic, she's writing her own comic book.
"I'm working on a comic book with Oni Press," Yi told MTV News. "It's about a post-apocalyptic-type of thing where a girl's going to save the world against the devil."
While Yi said they hadn't decided on a title for the project yet, she's handed in her first draft of the script -- and she has an artist lined up, too.
"Paul Maybury is going to draw the drawings," said Yi of her pairing with the "Aqua Leung" and Act-I-Vate artist. "He's really good. I'm excited that he's doing it."
Yi was short on details about the series, but revealed that it will star a young girl who "kind of looks like me only cooler and stronger and tougher and sexier."
"I just sent in the rough draft, so we're still working things out," said Yi of when we can expect to hear more about the book. "I've never made a comic book, so I don't know how it works."
