"Project Runway" co-host Tim Gunn knows a thing or two about fashion, but how much does he know about comic books? Well, for one, he knows how to operate Iron Man's armor.
Gunn met with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night to talk about the new season of the fashionista reality series. During the interview, Gunn revealed that he'll have a cameo appearance in a new Marvel Comics series titled "Models, Inc."
"It's phenomenal," he said of the appearance. "It was a dream I never even contemplated, because, I mean, it would be unattainable at 56—that I'd be a Marvel Comics hero? A superhero!"
Stewart joked that such an achievement isn't so implausible, certainly if he was bitten by "an irradiated fashion designer." But Gunn was quick to reveal that his cameo won't involve natural superpowers, even though he is assuming Tony Stark's iconic armor.
"I have no superpowers, which is why I have to don the Iron Man suit," he explained.
"You get to wear the suit?" Stewart retorted, practically foaming at the mouth with fanboy jealousy. "Son of a b----!"
Joking aside, Gunn declared his affection for the comic book medium and praised the artwork of Phil Jimenez, who illustrated Gunn's likeness on the "Models, Inc." #1 cover.
"It's a thrill to do it," he said of the cameo. "I'm fighting crimes against fashion!"
