Now that fans have finally gazed upon Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, what are the odds that we'll get to see her again after "Iron Man 2" hits theaters? According to Johansson herself, the chances are pretty good.
When the actress spoke with Ireland Online about her role in "Iron Man 2," she indicated that Black Widow could have a significant part to play in the upcoming "The Avengers" film.
"I hope I get to come back and do it again," she said. "The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of The Avengers. I don't know if that is where it's going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers."
If Johansson's Black Widow joins the "Avengers" ranks, she'll presumably fight alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemmsworth as Thor and the still-uncast Captain America. That's not even counting a hopeful return of the Hulk and several other characters—like Ant-Man, for instance—yet to be seen in Marvel's movie universe. It certainly sounds like the stars are aligning for the superhero team-up flick.
Even if the Black Widow isn't a major part of "The Avengers," there's always the possibility of the Russian spy appearing in further "Iron Man" films or even her own spin-off. No matter the form it takes, Johansson—like many of us—simply wants more Widow.
"She has many different incarnations and different storylines so I'm hoping she will be able to continue in that way," said the actress. "I'm hoping that if the fans like the character and support the character, we'll see her again."
When the time comes for "The Avengers," will Johansson's Black Widow enlist with the superhero initiative? Do you hope to see more of her character beyond "Iron Man 2"? Let us know in the comments section!
