In what now seems unfortunate timing, popular biography comic publisher Bluewater Productions announced the latest subject in its line of "Political Power" comics yesterday evening: Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy. The Democratic senator and leader of one of the most powerful political families in U.S. history died just before midnight last night.
Bluewater's press release regarding "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" went wide only hours before Kennedy's death, stating that the "Lion of the Senate" would "roar as a new comic book biography" scheduled for release in November.

"We are truly saddened for his families loss," Bluewater president Darren G. Davis told MTV News. "He was a true icon in American politics who was respected by his friends as well as his critics. The Ted Kennedy comic book has been in production since the 'Political Power' series was developed in March. The book is almost competed and of course we are going to have to make some edits due to today's events."
According to Bluewater, "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" will chronicle the politician's "eventful life from his youthful competition with his brothers and dealing with their untimely deaths, to the Chappaquiddick scandal that nearly destroyed his career; his failed bid for the presidency in 1980, and his distinguished career in the Senate."
Kennedy is not the first to be featured in Bluewater's line of "Political Power" comics. Prior subjects include former-Secretary of State Colin Powell, former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and (of course) current U.S. President Barack Obama.
"We could have filled several volumes with his accomplishments and failures," said the issue's author, Brent Sprecher. “However, in 23 pages, I think we created an objective and insightful portrait of Senator Kennedy and his impact on the national landscape."
Bluewater previously announced that it will publish an upcoming biography comic on deceased pop icon Michael Jackson, while it also continues to publish a line of "Female Force" comics focusing on important women in politics and the entertainment industry.
"Political Power: Ted Kennedy" will be illustrated by Alejandro Figueroa, with cover art by Patricio Carbajal.
