In addition to Don Cheadle’s recent assertion that Thor would be making a very unique cameo in upcoming Marvel flicks, we’ve got some actual news on the “Thor” front: actress Diora Baird (”My Best Friend’s Girl”) announced via Twitter this week that she had an audition for a role in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh-directed “Thor.”
According to Baird, she had an audition for a character described as “pretty, but sturdy with muscle.”
“Damn type casting,” she wrote. Read more...
Man, I wish I'd paid better attention in shop class. Maybe I would've been able to build my own "Tumbler"-style Batmobile out of a go-kart, too.
YouTube user tully712 has posted a great little video showing off the scaled-down Batmobile he built from a go-kart. His Tumbler is a pretty spot-on model of Batman's re-imagined mode of transportation from Christopher Nolan's films, and while it doesn't allow the driver to break out of the car's body and speed away on a motorocycle (a la "The Dark Knight"), it does offer the chance to patrol your neighborhood's seedy underbelly in style.
Oh, and just in case you want to build one of your own, he's selling the plans on eBay, too—so you know what to get me for my birthday, folks. Read more...

So far in Christopher Nolan's new "Batman" film franchise, we've seen Joker and Two-Face reinterpreted as darker, more sinister re-imaginings of their previous big-screen incarnations. But which villain will be next?
While there's been significant chatter about characters like Catwoman, Riddler and The Penguin finding their way into the next Batman movie, we thought it would be interesting to get some thoughts on the situation from Danny DeVito, the actor who brought Oswald "The Penguin" Cobblepot to life in Tim Burton's 1992 film "Batman Returns."
"I think they should do what they do best: take other people's ideas and make movies out of them," DeVito told MTV News when asked how he feels the studio should proceed with the next installment. "I wouldn't want to stand in the way of regress of progress." Read more...

Up until now, we've just seen pictures of Idris Elba and Jeffrey Dean Morgan pointing weapons around on the Puerto Rican set of "The Losers." The adaptation of Andy Diggle and Jock's Vertigo series about a black ops outfit spurned by their own government should come with plenty of disposable vehicles ready to be exploded as well, and a new video reportedly shot on-set appears show at least one of those action sequences.
The new half-minute sequence comes directly from the "Losers" set, according to JeffreyDeanMorganUnlimited.com, where it showed up. In the clip, a truck gets some major air from the film's pyrotechnics experts, riding a wave of fire into the sky at about the 26-second mark. Read more...

From DC's re-envisioned "Watchmen" to Stan Lee's original series "Time Jumper," everyone's been getting in on the "motion comic" trend these days. Now, Marvel Comics is testing the waters with its own Marvel Motion Comics line that kicks off today with the first episode of "Spider-Woman" on iTunes.
Featuring a story by Brian Bendis and art by Alex Maleev, the "Spider-Woman" motion comic promises to explore the recent return of the character's alter ego, Jessica Drew, to the Marvel Universe after being kidnapped, cloned and impersonated by shape-shifting aliens. In the hope of reclaiming some of the life she lost during Marvel's "Secret Invasion" event, she finds herself back in the spy game and getting back in touch with some old friends—and enemies.
MTV News picked Bendis' brain about the debut of "Spider-Woman" in motion comics, and received an exclusive peek at some never-before-seen art from the series. Read more...

Even though fans have yet to be treated to a proper trailer for the upcoming "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," that doesn't mean there haven't been plenty of peeks into production courtesy of director Edgar Wright's blog. With shooting entering its final stages, Wright's most recent video update hints at the film's most coveted details regarding the final showdown between titular protagonist Scott Pilgrim and his love's most evil ex-boyfriend Gideon Graves.
The update shows Wright reporting from the top of what appears to be a light-up pyramid stage adorned with all the trimmings of a proper rock show, including modified Marshall guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets. Mary Elizabeth Winstead appears wearing bright green hair as Ramona Flowers, having switched colors since last fans saw her, mirroring her character's comic characteristic. Read more...

John C. McGinley is scrubbing into the world of superheroes with "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," in which he plays the villainous Metallo. Sure, as a live-action performer, he'd be considerably less threatening than Brian Austin Green's take on the character—but getting in the sound booth as a voice actor is part of the fun for McGinley.
"It's a real treat to collaborate with the creative folks once you get in the booth," McGinley said about his experience on the upcoming DC Universe animated film. "Ten out of ten times, the people on the other side of the glass know the character better than you are ever going to—they have been working on this for months or years. All you can do is try to return serve because you are given all this wonderful, precise direction."
Such precise direction comes in the form of esteemed voice director Andrea Romano, who McGinley has the utmost respect for. In fact, he compared Romano to another director he's worked with in the past: Oliver Stone. Read more...

With so much attention being paid to the debuts of Deadpool and Gambit in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," it's easy to overlook the impressive performance of Liev Schreiber as one of the franchise's returning characters, Sabretooth. Along with bringing one of Logan's most popular nemesis to life, Schreiber added significant depth to a character whose appearances had previously been limited to grunts and the occasional growl.
While the ending of "Wolverine" certainly leaves the door open for Schreiber to return to the character, Logan's impending journey to Japan might complicate a cameo from Sabretooth. When we had a chance to chat with the actor during a press event for his upcoming film "Taking Woodstock," we had to ask him whether we'd see his take on Victor Creed in the next X-Men movie.
"There's been some smatterings of conversation about it, but nothing concrete yet," Schreiber told MTV News. "I had a ball doing it, so I'd do it again." Read more...
