Zombie CopWhat do zombies have to do with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," the hit television series airing on CBS? And more importantly, what do those two things combined have to do with the comic book universe? Well, funny you should ask...

On his blog, comic book writer Jeff Mariotte has announced that his original graphic novel, "Zombie Cop," will have its "small-screen debut" on October 15th. The catch? The brief appearance of "Zombie Cop" will occur on an episode of "CSI."

"It started on Wednesday, with an email from the publisher, forwarding an email from the show's property master, seeking permission to use the book on an upcoming episode," Mariotte explained of how the comic book cameo came to be. "They shot the scene last night. In the scene, someone's reading the graphic novel in a diner, and that serves as the lead-in to a gunfight." Read More...

Political Power: Ted KennedyEarlier today we brought you the news of an upcoming comic book biography of recently deceased senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy that was announced just prior to the politician's death yesterday.

While plans for the "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" comic were put into motion long before the Democratic leader's death, Kennedy's passing certainly casts a new light on the project.

Publisher Bluewater Productions has given Splash Page an early, exclusive look at the Ted Kennedy biography comic, and offered the following statement about the timing of the announcement, the comic itself and the passing of a political icon. Read More...

ExcaliburBryan Singer's plate is pretty darn full. Even if he doesn't return to the "Superman" franchise, he's currently attached to some other high-profile properties—potentially including the "X-Men: First Class" directing gig. Recently, he added yet another project to the pile with a re-imagining of John Boorman's classic King Arthur film "Excalibur."

But it isn't the mere fact that Singer is looking to produce and direct a King Arthur-era movie that's worth noting here. For some reason, there seems to be a surprising amount of comics-savvy creators flocking to the Arthurian legend in some way, shape or form.

Just last month, it was revealed that "Transmetropolitan" writer Warren Ellis is scripting a currently untitled King Arthur movie. Ellis noted on his blog that his project is different from Singer's, effectively dispelling any hopes that the one-time "X-Men" director and the "Astonishing X-Men" writer would be in cahoots on the same film. Megan FoxWhat is it about the "Batman" film franchise that breeds ridiculous rumors? The latest in a long line of unlikely casting gossip has "Jennifer's Body" star Megan Fox suiting up as Catwoman for the third installment of Christopher Nolan's "Batman" films. But is it any more ridiculous than some of the previous rumors that have made the rounds?

[UPDATE: Check out our gallery of altered images featuring Megan Fox as Catwoman!]

The report surfaced earlier today in notoriously unreliable British tabloid The Sun, which simply stated—without any attributed sources, anonymous or otherwise—that "Megan Fox has signed up to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie." And while there doesn't appear to be even the slightest glimmer of truth to the report, it still isn't the most ridiculous casting rumor we've heard thus far.

Or is it? Read More...

HancockWe've already heard thoughts on "Hancock 2" from director Peter Berg and stars Will Smith and Charlize Theron, but what does Jason Bateman think of the idea? The "Arrested Development" actor played an integral role in the first film, and his character would almost certainly be a required ingredient in the developing sequel.

Thankfully for the comedian's fans and the "Hancock" franchise at large, Bateman is definitely interested in returning for "Hancock 2." He spoke with Collider about the film, essentially describing the decision to rejoin the superhero film as a no-brainer.

"Oh yeah, in a heartbeat," Bateman said. "Yeah, that's not a tough decision. I hope that happens." Read More...

Ted KennedyIn what now seems unfortunate timing, popular biography comic publisher Bluewater Productions announced the latest subject in its line of "Political Power" comics yesterday evening: Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy. The Democratic senator and leader of one of the most powerful political families in U.S. history died just before midnight last night.

Bluewater's press release regarding "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" went wide only hours before Kennedy's death, stating that the "Lion of the Senate" would "roar as a new comic book biography" scheduled for release in November.

[UPDATE: Bluewater has provided an exclusive preview of "Political Power: Ted Kennedy" to Splash Page readers.]

"We are truly saddened for his families loss," Bluewater president Darren G. Davis told MTV News. "He was a true icon in American politics who was respected by his friends as well as his critics. The Ted Kennedy comic book has been in production since the 'Political Power' series was developed in March. The book is almost competed and of course we are going to have to make some edits due to today's events." Read More...

BatmanWhether Christopher Nolan's follow-up to "The Dark Knight" begins filming next year as Gary Oldman anticipates it will (or not), the next big-screen Batman chapter might be bigger than anyone expected—literally.

Nolan gave moviegoers a taste of what specially shot IMAX footage could do for superhero films when he used the format for a few key scenes of "The Dark Knight." The format even inspired Jon Favreau to ponder IMAX for "Iron Man 2." Now, a breaking rumor indicates that Nolan may be considering a total IMAX approach as he head into his third Batman installment.

According to the usually reliable crew at Ain't It Cool News, the next film in Nolan's "Batman" franchise, which has yet to receive an official title, could be completely shot in IMAX. If the report turns out to be true, every scene would be getting formatted from the first day of shooting to be spread across super-wide screens everywhere. Read More...

Scott PilgrimJust in time for this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, "Scott Pilgrim" creator Bryan Lee O'Malley has a new poster ready to send in his absence—and video game geeks should take note.

O'Malley has been foreshadowing the reveal of the new print on his Twitter account this week, dropping hints and offering a contest up for anyone who could guess which characters would appear.

"It's a parody/homage of 'Gem Fighter'/'Pocket Fighter,'" O'Malley posted in his Flickr account. For a comic that has previously integrating imagery from "Super Mario Bros. 3," "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Double Dragon," his latest choice from Capcom's game catalog should come as no surprise.
