"Ninja Assassin" and "V For Vendetta" director James McTeigue has long been rumored as one of the leading candidates to take over Warner Bros.' stalled Superman movie franchise.

Earlier this month, McTeigue offered a vague, somewhat cryptic response when asked whether the rumors were true—so we couldn't help putting the question to him again when he dropped by Splash Page HQ today. Fresh off wrapping things up with the much-anticipated, action-packed "Ninja Assassin," McTeigue would "neither confirm nor deny" his attachment to a new "Superman" movie... but he did tell us where he'd like to go with DC's Man of Steel if—and that's a big if—he was in the director's chair.

"I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot—take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect, actually," McTeigue told MTV News. "So, that would be my thinking on it, if I was ever going to go near Superman." Read more...

Scarlett JohanssonNow that fans have finally gazed upon Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, what are the odds that we'll get to see her again after "Iron Man 2" hits theaters? According to Johansson herself, the chances are pretty good.

When the actress spoke with Ireland Online about her role in "Iron Man 2," she indicated that Black Widow could have a significant part to play in the upcoming "The Avengers" film.

"I hope I get to come back and do it again," she said. "The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of The Avengers. I don't know if that is where it's going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers." Read more...

Models, Inc."Project Runway" co-host Tim Gunn knows a thing or two about fashion, but how much does he know about comic books? Well, for one, he knows how to operate Iron Man's armor.

Gunn met with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night to talk about the new season of the fashionista reality series. During the interview, Gunn revealed that he'll have a cameo appearance in a new Marvel Comics series titled "Models, Inc."

"It's phenomenal," he said of the appearance. "It was a dream I never even contemplated, because, I mean, it would be unattainable at 56—that I'd be a Marvel Comics hero? A superhero!" Read more...

Scott PilgrimIt seems like only yesterday Mark Webber was all starry-eyed about restyling his hair and jetting up to Toronto for "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." All good things must come to an end though, as Webber tweeted his departure from the set yesterday.

The Oni series' creator Bryan Lee O'Malley also contributed some 'Pilgrim' posting yesterday that you may find of interest.

Meanwhile, there are still more "Losers" pics making their way to the Internet, and writer Andy Diggle has a link for you, as well as a note on which scene from the original Vertigo comics you can look forward to seeing in the movie.

Click onward for more as you always do, and you'll find each of those tweets, as well as which big-name comics creator disliked "District 9" so much that he had to leave the theater. It's in the Twitter Report for August 20, 2009. Read more...

Jason SchwartzmanYou know what I love about Jason Schwartzman? The dude always seems to be clued in on what’s going to be cool next, yet part of his charm is that he doesn’t seem to think he’s cool. Which makes him, well… cool.

As comics-lovers know, there are few things cooler than “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” And when I spoke with the former Max Fischer Tuesday evening, he had literally just wrapped.

“I finished last night,” Schwartzman told MTV News. “I’m back in Los Angeles—I just got off a plane two hours ago.” Read more...

The LosersYesterday, we saw some explosive footage from the set of "The Losers," director Sylvain White's live-action adaptation of Andy Diggle and Jock's action-packed series. Now we have a few more photos from the set of the film to check out, including a few new shots of stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba and Columbus Short, as well as some of the heavy-duty hardware they're bringing out for the film.

Posted over on fan site JDMorgan.info, the gallery includes a few images of the aforementioned cast members getting prepped for a scene, as well as some shots of an overturned jeep and a military helicopter taking off. Actress Zoe Saldana is conspicuously absent from the shots (from what I can tell), so could this be a scene that takes place early in the story's timeline, before her character, Aisha, connects with the left-for-dead team of operatives? Iron Man 2Last time we heard from "Iron Man 2" actor Sam Rockwell, he was promising a team-up between his character, weapons dealer Justin Hammer, and Mickey Rourke's tendril-wielding powerhouse, Whiplash.

Now, after catching glimpses of Rockwell in character during the "Iron Man 2" San Diego Comic-Con footage and earlier stills that hit the 'Net, we get another peek at Justin Hammer. SuperHeroHype has the full version of the new image, which seems to show Hammer offering a testimony before the U.S. government—likely the same scene in which Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) defends his ownership of the Iron Man armor.

Now that we've seen photos of "Iron Man 2" stars Rockwell, Rourke, Downey, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, what's left? Well, there are still those images of War Machine revealed during Comic-Con that have yet to see wide release... and possibly a more armored version of Whiplash?

What do you think of the new "Iron Man 2" photo? Sound off in the comment section or on Twitter!

When it comes to movies, a well-received first outing almost always calls for an even better follow-up, and in the case of the in-development "Iron Man" franchise, fandom has set its collective expectations high. But while Don Cheadle acknowledges fan excitement, the "Iron Man 2" star explained that the mindset behind the sequel is primarily rooted in expanding on what worked in the first film.

When asked about the general conversation that took place with director Jon Favreau on the "Iron Man 2" set, Cheadle explained that his motivation wasn't necessarily to make a bigger film, but a film that explored the ideas set during the first installment in a big way.

"You know, [topping the last film] wasn't really ever the discussion," Cheadle told MTV News, "We never said, 'How do we beat it?' in my opinion. We just said, 'How do we take what happened in the first film and pay it off now in the second film and really explore what it means now for a character to be going around as an actual super hero that everybody knows.'" ShazamBoth Marvel Comics and DC Comics have a Captain Marvel to their name, but only one of these companies has publicized plans to bring its character to the big screen—with the help from one of the comics industry's finest writers, Geoff Johns.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Green Lantern" comic book scribe is teaming up with writer Bill Birch for "Shazam!," an adaptation of DC's Captain Marvel. Birch is credited as the main writer, with Johns pitching in to co-write. Peter Segal will direct the film. Read more...

SurrogatesThe release date for Disney's live-action adaptation of the graphic novel "The Surrogates" is looming ever larger, but other than a recent behind-the-scenes featurette and some footage that debuted at New York Comic Con in February, we haven't seen much of the film thus far. When comics fans do see more of the final product, however, there could be even more questions—for instance, what happened to the main villain?

"The character of Steeplejack is not in the movie by name anymore," director Jonathan Mostow told MTV News of the conspicuous absence (to comics fans, at least) of the main antagonist from Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele's original graphic novel. Read more...
