This weekend, the HBO vampire series "True Blood" wraps up its second season, but don't expect the bloodsuckers to stay dead for too long—not only will this year's ratings ensure a third season for "True Blood," but many of the cast members will be popping up in other places outside of Bon Temps, Louisiana.
One such place, believe it or not, is the comic book world—whether in a film adaptation or in the paneled pages themselves, these five "True Blood" regulars all have a connection to comics.
ANNA PAQUIN: Currently, actress Anna Paquin is best known as the telepathic Sookie Stackhouse on "True Blood," but comic book fans know her for a different role: the power-absorbing mutant Rogue in the "X-Men" franchise.
Although her character hasn't been seen since "X-Men: The Last Stand," Paquin has expressed interest in returning to the franchise, assuming she gets a little more butt to kick, that is.
STEPHEN MOYER: Being both Paquin's on-screen and off-screen boyfriend isn't Stephen Moyer's only connection to the realm of comics—he's currently filming a co-starring role in "Priest," which ironically features "Twilight" rival Cam Gigandet.
Still, Moyer is deserving enough of a meatier superhero role—given his inclination to work with Paquin, maybe the actors can share further screen time in an "X-Men" film at some point.
ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD: Many fans are still disappointed that Swedish-born Alexander Skarsgård lost the lead in "Thor" to Chris Hemsworth, particularly considering his resemblance to the Norse God of Thunder—heck, he even got to wear the costume!
But Skarsgård's superhero hopes aren't necessarily dashed. Anyone who saw him in "Generation Kill," HBO's dramatic look at the war in Iraq, can testify to his ability to play an American soldier—a quality that a certain other Marvel hero is definitely in need of.
MIKE MCMILLIAN: Don't hold actor Mike McMillian's vampire-hating, god-fearing character of Reverend Steve Newlin against him—in reality, the "True Blood" antagonist is a friend of the comic book community.
McMillian is writing a new series called "Lucid" for Archaia Studios Press, as part of "Heroes" star Zachary Quinto's new deal with the publisher. The actor-turned-writer describes "Lucid" as a magical spy adventure drawing inspiration from Harry Potter, James Bond and more.
EVAN RACHEL WOOD: As the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, Evan Rachel Wood's bloodsucking Sophie-Anne is a far cry from her upcoming turn as Mary-Jane Watson in "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark," the Broadway musical featuring songs from U2.
Her involvement in the show has seen some ups and downs, most notably in the show's recent shutdown. But with activity resuming on the production, it'll only be a few short months before Wood locks lips with Spider-Man on the big stage.
