The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight join forces later this month in "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies," the latest DC animated feature to hit shelves—and along with having to conquer their own differences, they'll also face a pretty impressive array of supervillains looking to claim a bounty on the heroes' heads.

Among the rogues looking to take down Superman and Batman is Metallo, the villain with a heart made of kryptonite. Last week, you got the first look at Metallo's brawl with Superman, but now we have an exclusive peek at the rest of their battle. Check it out:

Patrick SwayzeWho would have thought that "Red Dawn" is the favorite Patrick Swayze film for nine out of ten comic book creators? There were a few "Point Break" call-outs, but Swayze's famous gig saving a small American town from Communist invasion dominated tweets last night as news of the actor's death spread.

It's been a bad week for deaths, as mournful Swayze tweets have been accompanied by memories of the late British chef Keith Floyd and "Basketball Diaries" author Jim Carroll. The Twitter Report tweet list runs down remembrances of each today.

Also, just for a little pick-me-up, I've included some good news from Jhonen Vasquez and wisdom from Erik Larsen. Check out all of that below in the Twitter Report for September 15, 2009. Read More...

RoninDirector Sylvain White is cutting his comic book movie teeth on "The Losers," currently filming in Puerto Rico, but he's already booked his next trip to the medium with Frank Miller's "Ronin."

Although he's understandably busy with the Jeffrey Dean Morgan-starring Vertigo adaptation, White is still hard at work on "Ronin," a project that's over a year in development.

"It's still being developed," White told Superhero Hype of the project's progress. "I just got a new draft a week ago. It's looking really good and promising." Read More...

Ant-ManOne film project that could be the first and most prominently effected by Disney's pending acquisition of Marvel Entertainment could be "Ant-Man," the Edgar Wright-directed adaptation of the Avengers superhero. Recent rumors pegged "Ant-Man" as a Pixar film, though Wright himself said such a report was "not wholly accurate."

For those still holding onto hope of Pixar's involvement in "Ant-Man" in light of Wright's comments, here's an extra dose of bad news—Pixar's chief creative officer John Lasseter told attendees of last weekend's D23 Expo that rumors of a Pixar and "Ant-Man" pairing are exactly that: rumors.

"I had met all the folks from Marvel a couple of times and they're terrific," Lasseter said while briefly acknowledging Disney's recent acquisition, according to Superhero Hype. "The whole 'Ant-Man' thing is just a rumor." Read More...

Superman ReturnsOn Friday, I spoke with the new head of DC Entertainment, Diane Nelson, who offered up some thoughts on how the recent changes in and around Warner Brothers will affect Superman, Batman and the rest of DC's stable of characters in comics, movies and various other media.

However, one particular portion of the interview seemed to merit its own post. While discussing some of the specific projects on the horizon for DC ("Ryan Reynolds can be anything he wants to be," said Nelson of the "Green Lantern" star's ability to play both Hal Jordan and the Marvel character Deadpool in upcoming films), the conversation eventually turned to one of the company's most iconic characters: Superman.

"We actually don't have any current plans for Superman," said Nelson when asked if the new environment (and the recent legal decision regarding the character) made a "Superman" movie more or less likely in the near future. Read More...

HarkerWhen last we spoke with British comic book writer Tony Lee, he was hard at work scripting the comic book adventures of beloved science-fiction hero Doctor Who. This October, another of Lee's projects hits shelves—and this time around, he's tapped into an even more well-known and much-loved universe: the vampire-filled world of Bram Stoker's "Dracula."

Titled "From The Pages Of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula': 'Harker,'" Lee's upcoming graphic novel follows the cast of Stoker's 1897 novel as they attempt to put their lives back together in the aftermath of Count Dracula's death. However, unlike other stories that tap the well of vampire mythology, "Harker" has a very unique seal of approval.

"This is the first-ever graphic novel that has an endorsement from the Stoker family," said Lee of the book, which will feature an introduction by Dacre Stoker, the great grandnephew of Bram Stoker. Read More...

WolverineA pair of DVDs get the spotlight this week, one giving the origin treatment to Marvel's clawed mutant and the other taking us back to the origins of Hasbro's robots in disguise.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (Two-Disc Special Edition): We've already told you all about the film itself, so what does the DVD offer? Along with a variety of "Making Of" and behind-the-scenes featurettes (one features Stan Lee and Len Wein reflecting on the character's history), the two-disc DVD and Blu-Ray editions both feature an assortment of deleted and alternate scenes.

However, rather than simply providing another take on existing shots, some of the extra footage offers interesting spins on the existing material. Read More...

"Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2" hits shelves Tuesday, September 15, pitting many of your favorite characters from the Marvel universe (or is it Disney now?) against one another in a game-based recreation of the publisher's "Civil War" storyline. The game promises to let you control Iron Man's pro-registration team or Captain America's anti-registration squad as they fight a variety of battles both inside and outside the superhero community.

The latest trailer offers a peek at what's in store for gamers:

A quick peek at the trailer reveals everyone from Iron Fist to Jamie Madrox making cameos in the game. Sounds like a pretty fan-friendly lineup to me!

SmallvilleTwo of the darkest character looks for "Smallville" in Season Nine belong to proto-Superman Clark Kent and the show's Kryptonite-powered villain Metallo, played by Brian Austin Green. Clark's new black-jacketed, Punisher-esque costume has already sent waves through Superman fandom, and the show's new TV spots and promo photos indicate there's going to be a lot more fodder for fan debate when new episodes get rolling September 25.

"There is no Clark Kent," Tom Welling's character says in a new commercial for the show, collected in a gallery over at SuperHeroHype.com. "I wear the symbol to remind myself that I have a different destiny." Read More...

Michael FassbenderRecently, German-born actor Michael Fassbender broke through with a key role in Quentin Tarantino’s latest instant classic. Now, he’s looking forward to returning to screens next summer opposite another "Basterd": Jonah Hex. And while "Dark Knight" fans continue hoping The Riddler will be coming their way soon, Fassbender revealed to us that the green-leotarded one is actually coming to a different WB film.

Well, sort of...

“All the elements were in place to make it very attractive, even before I got the script,” Fassbender told us about the recently-wrapped June 2010 "Jonah Hex" flick. “I was a big fan of Josh [Brolin] before, and also John Malkovich is a big hero ever since I saw ‘Dangerous Liaisons.’ And when [director] Jimmy [Hayward] got on the phone with me I liked his energy, and I like the way he had a personal interest in each character and had each layer covered. Then, it was just a matter of me finding a real human being within the comic-book character.” Read More...
