If "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" accomplished only one thing, it's this: there will be more "X-Men" films. Between "Deadpool," "X-Men Origins: Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class," it's really just a matter of which movies are going to come first. Based on "Wolverine" actor Tim Pocock's recent comments, it's likely that "X-Men: First Class" could well be the next movie on Fox's mutant agenda.
"Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010...then X-men first class," the actor wrote on Twitter just a few short days ago, implying that production on the movie could be ramping up soon.
"First Class," which allegedly focuses on the young adventures of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Beast, has been the subject of some speculation lately. Original "X-Men" helmer Bryan Singer's name has been mentioned as the possible director of "First Class," though nothing official has been stated either way just yet. Read more...

Woody Harrelson is about to try his hand against a pack of vicious flesh-eaters in "Zombieland," but that's not the only tremendous feat the actor is facing down -- he's also set to don the tights in superhero flick "Defendor."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group is in final negotiations to acquire the distribution rights for the movie, which recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. Sony would own the worldwide rights to the film in all territories except Canada, where the movie is being released by Alliance. No release date is set. Read more...

The recent announcement regarding a "Fantastic Four" reboot confirmed long-standing rumors that the property was set for an overhaul—and given recent comments from Chris Evans, it's unlikely that the original cast will return for the do-over.
With the likes of Evans, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffudd presumably removed from the new "Fantastic Four," what sort of actors will the revamped film need in order to create a viable, sustainable franchise?
I've narrowed down my picks. Read on to see if you agree! Read more...

Okay, so "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is flying off shelves, wowing critics and even offering up some new downloadable content in the near future—so what is it missing?
How about the "Batman Beyond" version of the Dark Knight, the amalgam-universe Dark Claw (Wolverine + Batman!) or the trippy Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, for a start.
Over at the game's official website, owners of "Arkham Asylum" for the PC have posted images of various skins they've created for the DC hero.
Want to play the game using the "Batman Begins" bat-suit? It's in there. Want the classic grey and blue suit? They made it. Read more...

With 3D effects quickly becoming a staple feature for film audiences, novelist and filmmaker Clive Barker wanted to create a narrative that took the augmented viewing experience one step further by weaving it into the narrative hook of IDW's "Seduth," his first original comic property in nearly two decades.
Co-written by Chris Monfette with art by Gabriel Rodriguez, Jay Fotos ("Locke & Key") and 3-D art expert Ray Zone, "Seduth" is slated to include 3D glasses when it drops in October, letting readers delve into the storyline's exploration of existence in more than three dimensions, with readers' experience being the added fourth dimension.
According to Barker, this effect was conceived to be a kind of "wet dream of 3D," for comic fans, positioning storytelling elements in a way that's meant to capitalize on the full potential of the visual enhancement with pointed graphic content and surreal landscapes prominent throughout the issue. FROM MULTIPLAYER: I don't think anyone finished "Batman: Arkham Asylum" wanting more content, but it seems WBIE, Eidos and Rocksteady are unwilling to let this game go without tossing a freebie.

On September 17th, owners of all versions of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" will be able to download the "Insane Night" map pack, which includes two new challenge maps.

THE STORY: "Girls" by Joshua and Jonathan Luna
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: The small community of Pennystown has a big problem: a seemingly endless supply of beautiful, naked, alien women have invaded.
What's the problem? Well, the girls are instinctually eviscerating any human women they come across, having sex with any men they can find, then giving birth to a new crop of girls. The worst part? The entirety of Pennystown is enclosed in a massive shell. No one comes in and no one comes out, at least not until these murderous, sex-crazed girls have been dealt with. Read more...

It's been a while since we checked in with the Top Cow crew about "The Witchblade," the planned feature film based on the publisher's long-running, fan-favorite comic book series about a female police detective who fights evil with the aid of a supernatural artifact. Back in May, Top Cow president Matt Hawkins said the project was still looking for a writer, but financing had already been secured and director Michael Rymer ("Battlestar Galactica," "Queen of the Damned") was attached.
During a recent conversation with Hawkins, the Top Cow chief said very little's changed in that respect—but they have come up with a new take on the movie's plot.
"We sat down with a couple of guys, [co-producer] Platinum Studios and Marc Silvestri and I, and we banged out a three-page document that says here’s the basic story idea we want to do," said Hawkins. "It’s sort of a balancing act—it’s very different from the book, but thematically, it’s very much the same." Read more...

Nicolas Cage's departure from "The Green Hornet" created quite a bit of buzz last week, but it was followed up by unconfirmed reports this week that "Inglourious Basterds" actor Christoph Waltz was in talks to replace Cage as the film's villain.
While promoting his upcoming film "Bad Lieutenant, Port of Call: New Orleans" at the Toronto International Film Festival, Cage opened up about the reasons he made such an abrupt exit from Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry's film.
"'The Green Hornet' was something that I wanted to do, I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character," Cage told The Canadian Press. Read more...
