It's not a secret that "Iron Man," "Thor" and "The First Avenger: Captain America" are all laying the groundwork for a combined film in "The Avengers." Several filmmakers and producers at Marvel Studios have confirmed as much, and the very existence of a release date for "The Avengers" makes it clear that Marvel's holy trinity of heroes will join forces in 2012.
Marvel reinforced the eventual team-up with their presence at yesterday's Brand Licensing Exhibition in London. Bleeding Cool covered the event and spotted a group of posters that Marvel Studios is touting with an "Avengers Assemble" slogan.
The new logos are slightly different from those seen previously during June's Las Vegas Licensing Expo (posted here), which featured the tagline in the midst of a massive S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia, set in the center of logos for "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers."

The reappearance of Marvel's "Avengers Assemble" tagline reemphasizes the company's plans to bring Cap, Thor and Tony Stark together in 2012. Even better, the official use of "Avengers Assemble" all but guarantees that Captain America himself will bellow those very words come 2012, and I cannot wait to witness that.
While Bleeding Cool offers an analysis of the new logos, the reappearance of the over-arching "Avengers" tag makes it clear that Marvel is looking at the several films as one enormous franchise, so some interesting marketing moves are bound to be on the horizon.
For me, the prevalence of S.H.I.E.L.D. all but confirms Nick Fury's role in "The Avengers," but beyond that, I'm hoping it means that Marvel is considering a solo film for the eyepatch-clad agent. After all, Samuel L. Jackson didn't get that nine picture deal for nothing.
