Alan RitchsonWhat does a new scripted comedy series about college football have in common with comic books? According to the cast of "Blue Mountain State," quite a lot!

Comics Continuum spoke with Darin Brooks, Alan Ritchson and Sam Jones III, three of the stars behind Spike TV's upcoming football-centric comedy series "Blue Mountain State," about their own interests in the comic book medium.

For Brooks, his experience is relegated to mere fandom, but both Ritchson and Jones have appeared on the CW's "Smallville." Fans will remember Ritchson as Arthur Curry, the aquatically-inclined hero better known to comic book readers as Aquaman. Read More...

Sure, we're all looking forward to Marvel's superhero team-up extravaganza "The Avengers" in 2012, but seeing Iron Man, Captain America and Thor on the screen together isn't the only reason it has fans excited.

"Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau recently wondered how the supernatural world of Thor would blend on the big screen with the reality-based universe Iron Man, and he's not alone in questioning how "Avengers" will handle this mix. So, when I had the chance to pose the question to "Avengers" comic book writer and one of the chief architects of the current Marvel Universe, Brian Bendis, I had to ask what advice he's giving the Marvel movie team when it comes to mixing Thor and Iron Man.

"My advice is, has been, and will be, that much like the comics, you look at movies like the 'Oceans' movies that have all these different flavors, you put the flavors together and you cook 'em," Bendis told MTV News. "It absolutely can be done." Read More...

Dylan BakerWhen it comes to "Spider-Man 4," the upcoming superhero sequel directed by Sam Raimi, all eyes are on figuring out who the film's villains are going to be.

Based on the results of our recent poll, many Splash Page readers are hoping that the fourth "Spider-Man" outing finally focuses on The Lizard, Dr. Curt Connors' reptilian alter-ego that's been teased over the past several films. While Raimi himself previously said that the villain's story would likely be told eventually, he conceded that it might not happen in "Spider-Man 4."

Even though the Lizard's involvement still isn't a certainty, actor Dylan Baker—who played Connors in previous "Spider-Man" films—will indeed reprise his role in "Spider-Man 4," offering hope to fans of Spidey's scaly-skinned nemesis. Read More...

CagesDave McKean, the comic artist and graphic novelist best known for his collaborations with Neil Gaiman, announced this morning that he's in the early stages of bringing his book "Cages" to film. The seasoned creator who directed and co-wrote "MirrorMask" with Gaiman, will likely do at least as much for "Cages."

"Great first meeting about 'Cages' film; a long term possibility, but good to know all interested parties are on the same page," McKean posted on his Twitter account.

The telephone-book-sized hardcover, which McKean published through Kitchen Sink and NBM, covers a muliplot narrative about cats and the creative inhabitants of an apartment building, among other things. The iconic "Sandman" cover artist serialized the tale before eventually collecting it in its ultimate state, which he now wants to animate. Read More...

We might know who the villains are in "Spider-Man 4" or whether Sam Raimi will be back for "Spider-Man 5" and "Spider-Man 6," but when it comes to the connection between the "Spider-Man" franchise and a potential "Venom" movie, well...

Okay, Raimi couldn't give us much on that question, either.

But we did ask the celebrated director about how the two universes will connect, if at all, when Spider-Man's black-clad nemesis swings off into his own solo movie. Read More...

Cillian MurphyCillian Murphy returned for "The Dark Knight" after helping relaunch the Batman movie franchise as The Scarecrow in "Batman Begins." Murphy re-teams with director Christopher Nolan for his new film "Inception," so there is little doubt that Nolan would want him back if there's a Jonathan Crane role to be filled in "Batman 3"—and Murphy remains hopeful that a third installment is in the works.

"I hope they make a third one," he told MTV News. "I think 'The Dark Knight' was one of the greatest films."

Just because he's hopeful, however, doesn't mean that Nolan has shared his intentions on the "Inception" set. Read More...

John CassadayIt's a rare storyteller who can jump between disciplines without much fuss, and equally rare is the raconteur with the connections to make such transitions look easy. Thankfully for John Cassaday fans, the artist's skill set and vision has finally afforded him a place behind the camera of Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," following the pair's collaboration on Marvel's "Astonishing X-Men."

In an interview with The Beat, Cassaday discussed his decision to transition from comic artist to television director and gave readers a look behind the "Dollhouse" production curtain.

"[Joss Whedon and I] got to know each other a few years before 'Astonishing X-Men' and through that became even better friends," said Cassady. "We found that we had a similar way of telling a story, almost a shorthand language." Read More...
