Our week of exclusive interviews with the actors and filmmakers we're thankful for this year continues on MTV Movies with "Moon" star Sam Rockwell — who also happens to have a big role in next year's much-anticipated "Iron Man 2" as billionaire weapons dealer Justin Hammer.
Last time we spoke with Rockwell, he told us about his character's involvement in the creation of the War Machine armor, as well as his sources of inspiration for the character (hint: they weren't found in the comics). This time around, Rockwell followed up discussion of potential Oscar buzz surrounding his role in the indie sci-fi flick "Moon" with a bit more insight into "Iron Man 2" production.
"On 'Frost/Nixon' or 'Green Mile,' we all felt like, 'This is a big deal!' On 'Iron Man [2],' it did feel like a big deal at first, but we got very comfortable very quickly," Rockwell told MTV News. "Maybe because I knew Jon Favreau and we had done 'Made,' which was a smaller movie, and Justin Theroux was writing it, who's a friend of mine, there was a lot of improvisation. It was a very loose environment." Read more...

This week, we're celebrating the actors and filmmakers we're thankful for with a series of exclusive interviews about the projects that kept them on our minds all year 'round. One such filmmaker is "Inglourious Basterds" writer/director Quentin Tarantino, who mentioned a particularly interesting source of inspiration for his World War II-themed tale that hit theaters earlier this year.
"[The Basterds] are kind of comic booky," Tarantino told MTV News. "A big influence on the Basterds was Marvel Comics' 'Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos.' That was definitely an influence on that flick."
While it's not too difficult to see the similarities between Tarantino's ragtag, scalp-hunting Basterds and Sgt. Fury's wartime crew, it's certainly interesting to have Tarantino name-drop the Marvel characters as source material for "Basterds."

When I asked you to vote on your favorite "Spider-Man 4" rumors last week, I half-expected the list to become outdated in a matter of days at the rate new rumors were popping up. However, things have been pretty quiet the last few days, and now we can definitively say which "Spider-Man 4" rumor has fans most excited.
With more than 30 percent of the total votes, the rumor that Dylan Baker will become The Lizard in "Spider-Man 4" garnered the most support from readers, but it was closely followed by another popular rumor — that Bruce Campbell's many cameos in prior installments would lead to him playing Mysterio in the upcoming film. After those two, however, readers didn't seem to like any of the rumors floating around about Peter Parker's next big-screen adventure. Read more...

While Jock's "Judge Dredd" tweeting streak continued to today, showing off what we're guessing is not an official concept costume for the new movie, comics Twitterverse reactions continued to flow in about "New Moon." Sparkling vampires and "wussy werewolves" failed to impress at least two of them.
Elsewhere, Rob Liefeld will apparently be appearing on HGTV soon, as he posted a pick of their team remodeling his daughter's room. Check that out along with some snazzy Jill Thompson Wonder Woman art, Jamie McKelvie drawing Lockheed and Chris Samnee's defense of "Gossip Girl."
It's all in the Twitter Report for November 24, 2009. Read more...

No matter how many times Marvel's Punisher films start over from scratch, Dolph Lundgren will always be the first-live action Frank Castle.
The iconic action star wrote, directed and headlined in his latest direct-to-DVD film "Command Performance" and returns to the big screen in 2010 for Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables." As far as upcoming comic book films go, however, "Conan" is the only one that has his attention right now, and he said he hasn't been keeping up with the skull-shirted vigilante he first portrayed in 1989.
"No, I haven't seen any of [the new 'Punisher' movies]," Lundgren told MTV News. The Swedish-born actor has kept a tight schedule since he began directing his own movies like "The Mechanik" and "Diamond Dogs," so it's understandable that he might not be able to find the time. Read more...

“Babylon 5” creator and noted comic scribe J. Michael Straczynski said his “Silver Surfer” script is in limbo at Fox thanks to the lukewarm response received by “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
“What happened was when ‘FF2’ didn’t do as well as they hoped it would do, it caused them to call into question a ‘Silver Surfer’ movie,” noted Straczynski in an interview with Collider during last weekend’s “Ninja Assassin” press junket. “The script that I wrote picked up right where ‘FF2’ left off. So if they do a ‘Silver Surfer’ film down the road, it’ll have to be its own separate things.”
Straczynski added, “It was definitely adult fare. I wanted to tell the origin of the Surfer and get into that whole thing.” Read more...
Director Stephen Norrington’s script for the proposed reboot of “The Crow” is finished even though the film has yet to get the official greenlight.
“The script is great,” said “Crow” producer Ryan Kavanaugh during an interview with i09. ”We're very excited about it. ‘The Crow’ is definitely going to happen, we're just getting all the pieces together right now. It's not officially greenlit, but it's going to happen... I think in a couple months we could have the package together for sure.”
Created in 1989 by James O'Barr, “The Crow” has been adapted into a TV series and four feature films — most notably with the first "Crow" film starring the late Brandon Lee in 1994. According to Kavanaugh, the new film will be a literal relaunch of the franchise, which includes a complete reinterpretation of The Crow’s classic look. Read more...

With Thanksgiving Day around the corner, we're giving thanks for some of our favorite actors and filmmakers around MTV HQ all week. Yesterday, we brought you an exclusive interview with "Star Trek" director J.J. Abrams and star Chris Pine, who reinvented the science-fiction megafranchise with this year's blockbuster movie.
Here's what Abrams had to say about taking on the daunting task of bringing the "Trek" franchise to a new generation:
MTV: So I am a born and bred Trekkie. I want to thank you on behalf of every "Trek" fan. You made "Star Trek" for the first time cooler than "Star Wars." Would you agree with that?
ABRAMS: You're asking a dangerous question, my friend. I don't know how you respond to that without sounding like a douche bag. Why don't you just put a bull's-eye on my head? You know, making a film knowing there were so many fans out there was nerve-racking. I was behind the camera. Chris, Zach [Quinto], Zoe [Saldana], John [Cho], Simon [Pegg], Karl [Urban] — everyone in front of the camera — they were the ones literally putting themselves out there and asking for it. The fact that we were accepted and helped by [original Spock] Mr. [Leonard] Nimoy building that bridge between what was and what is now, it was incredibly gratifying to see it was well-received.

"Superman Returns" raised a lot of questions about what kind of sequel might follow the 2006 film and who would come back, as well as whether Warner Brothers would simply start from scratch with the next film about the Man of Steel. "Ninja Assassin" director James McTeigue was once rumored to replace Bryan Singer, but DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson recently said the company doesn't "have any current plans for Superman."
Well, Kevin Spacey doesn't have any Superman plans either, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't return to the role of Lex Luthor.
"If I ran Warner Brothers I could tell you definitively we’d be making that movie," Spacey told MTV News. "But I don’t, and they haven’t called me to tell me." Read more...

Tobey Maguire may not know the histories of all the villain picks in Splash Page's recent "Spider-Man 4" poll, but he does know what director Sam Raimi likes. The Lizard came in first during our fan voting, with Carnage taking second and Mysterio landing in third place. Maguire reacted to all three choices, but clearly has an opinion on which picks are most likely.
"I'm more familiar with Lizard and Mysterio, and I don't know -- I like them as villains," Maguire told MTV News. "I think they're great, and Lizard obviously has a very personal relationship with Peter Parker, so we often will go towards that kind of stuff." Read more...
