Both War Machine and Whiplash have made their official "Iron Man 2" poster debuts, but it appears that these images are only the beginning of a potential viral marketing campaign.
Paramount Pictures has sent Superhero Hype what appears to be a fictional newspaper clipping detailing information on Tony Stark and his decision to reveal himself to the world as the heroic Iron Man.
"Stunning the world's press, amazing captains of industry, delighting a curious public and thrilling children the world over, Tony Stark, CEO of Stark Enterprises, announced this week that he was the man behind Iron Man," reports the fictional article.
It continues: "The mysterious metal-clad behemoth that has battled terrorists, challenged natural disasters and rescued thousands of people around the world, had people guessing as to his true identity."
The remainder of the article beyond that introductory paragraph goes on to sum up the essential moments of the first "Iron Man" film — namely, Tony's abduction by terrorists in Afghanistan and his decision to change Stark Industries' focus from weapons manufacturing to non-military production.
While this initial article isn't particularly revealing, it does further the newspaper theme seen in yesterday's Whiplash poster. Perhaps this is just one of several fictional clippings we'll see and read in the coming months, leading to some interesting tidbits about the movie's plot before its official release.
Either way, keep it tuned into Splash Page for further details on the "Iron Man 2" marketing campaign!
