British actor and model Joseph Gatt may be the latest addition to the cast of “Thor.”
According to a statement posted on Gatt’s website, Gatt is “prepping for his most prominent job to date: a (secret) role in the forthcoming Marvel Studios film ‘Thor’, slated for release in 2011." However, this announcement has not been officially confirmed by Marvel at this time.
Gatt’s most prominent film appearance to date was in the 2006 horror film, “Pulse.” Gatt has also performed extensively as a motion capture actor on several video games, including “Lair”, “24: The Game” and "Driv3r" as well as “God of War II” and “God of War III.”
Thus far, speculation on Gatt’s role in “Thor” has centered on Skurge the Executioner, one of the earliest “Thor” villains who was often in league with the Enchantress. Neither character has been confirmed to appear within the film.
Director Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” adaptation has rivaled “Iron Man 2” for buzz among comic fans thanks to an impressive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano.
“Thor” is set to begin filming next month in Los Angeles with a release date planned for May 2011.
