Just when it seemed like "Iron Man 2" news was hitting a lull, Paramount has released three (semi-)new images from the much-anticipated sequel.

The new trio of photos feature a shot of Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer that we've seen versions of before, a new shot of Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and a photo of director Jon Favreau chatting it up with stars Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle.

It's the understatement of the year to say that reactions were mixed when I posted a story last week wondering aloud about "Avatar" star Sam Worthington's choice of clothing during MTV's live "Avatar" Q&A event. The actor, who starred in the recent "Terminator: Salvation" and will play Perseus in the upcoming "Clash of the Titans" remake, was seen wearing an "Avengers" shirt — so with tongue firmly planted in cheek, I asked whether it could be possible Worthington was campaigning for a role in "The Avengers" or "Captain America" movies.
The response was, to put it mildly, pretty polarizing. Some sites seemed to get the joke and play along, others took the post a little too seriously — but in the end, it certainly kicked off discussion of whether the Australian actor could (or should) play one of Marvel's heroes.
Cue the recent "Avatar" junket, and Worthington's arrival at the interview wearing a Captain America t-shirt...
"I'm a fan, mate. That's what it really is," laughed Worthington when asked about the shirt. Read more...

After last week's flurry of "Iron Man 2" imagery, news regarding next year's blockbuster sequel has slowed up a bit — but that doesn't mean the media isn't looking for more info from the film's stars.
Most recently, Scarlett Johansson chatted up The Daily Record about her "Iron Man 2" training regimen, her skin-tight costume and the fight training she had for the role of Natasha Romanoff, the Russian superspy known as Black Widow. She even offered up some thoughts on whether we'll see her suit up again when Marvel's superhero team-up film "The Avengers" comes around.
"What do I like about the character? Everything. Her fabulous outfit. Her wonderful hair. Everything," said Johansson. Read more...
British actor and model Joseph Gatt may be the latest addition to the cast of “Thor.”
According to a statement posted on Gatt’s website, Gatt is “prepping for his most prominent job to date: a (secret) role in the forthcoming Marvel Studios film ‘Thor’, slated for release in 2011." However, this announcement has not been officially confirmed by Marvel at this time.
Gatt’s most prominent film appearance to date was in the 2006 horror film, “Pulse.” Gatt has also performed extensively as a motion capture actor on several video games, including “Lair”, “24: The Game” and "Driv3r" as well as “God of War II” and “God of War III.” Read more...

The last 24 hours were lively on the Twitter Report follow list with Brian Michael Bendis' excitement over new "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" boxer shorts and Paul Pope doing an impression of Luke Cage on Christmas Day. Brad Meltzer, meanwhile, taped in front of a lively studio audience last night, according to his tweets, which state that he appeared on Glenn Beck's show to discuss heroes.
Transportation accidents somehow trended as well, with Brandon Jerwa having a near-death experience, B. Clay Moore recalling a past brush with the reaper during Comic-Con, and Aaron Diaz discussing the origin of his own scar in Harry Potter terms. Check those out along with a sad photo from Terry Moore and a Jock's latest project with Andy Diggle.
It's all retweeted in the Twitter Report for December 15, 2009. Read more...

What does "Thor," the upcoming Marvel Studios film directed by Kenneth Branagh, have in common with a horde of vicious vampires? Not too much — except for shared screenwriters, of course.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz — the scribes behind the Norse God of Thunder's eventual big screen debut — have set their sights on yet another comic book adaptation, this time in the form of "Damn Nation" for Paramount Pictures.

It's always a bit of a triumph when an original graphic novel or a creator-owned comic book concept gets picked up in Hollywood, but in the case of the Julia Wertz-edited "I Saw You…" anthology, it's a win for scores of independent creators.
As Variety reported late last week, DreamWorks has purchased Andrea McCloud's romantic comedy pitch based on the OGN for a sum in the mid-six figures.
The original graphic novel anthology, which was released this past February through Three Rivers Press, contained numerous short stories based on missed-connection ads from newspapers and Craigslist posts from around the United States, but its potential cinematic adaptation will reportedly center around a more manageable four intersecting love stories.
