Even though he hasn't been contacted by Marvel Studios, Sam Worthington would kill to play Captain America. Still, the actor — who stars in tomorrow's massively hyped "Avatar" from director James Cameron — understands that some fans would have a problem with an Australian assuming the most iconic American superhero's mantle.

That's not to say that Worthington should be ruled out from playing Steve Rogers — I personally would have no trouble with that casting, even if that's not the majority opinion — but in the spirit of finding an amicable resolution, I think we should explore some other comic book options for the up-and-coming actor, who is already signed on for "The Last Days of American Crime."

If the role of Cap goes to another actor, here are five other comic book heroes that Worthington could play fantastically. Read More...

Iron Man 2 - TwitterThe new "Iron Man 2" trailer lit up the comics Twitterverse last night, and if that shocks you, you have haven't been paying attention for the last year. Brian Michael Bendis, Phil Hester and Edgar Wright all posted their reactions, and Bendis even went a step further explaining how he might be turning his child into a supervillain.

The tweets weren't all gleeful in this morning's feed, though, as the death of Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry made its way to the trending topics as well. You can read about that after the jump, in addition to which webcomic creator will be speaking at MacWorld 2010, what James Jean's latest art creation looks like and how many times Rob Liefeld plans on seeing "Avatar" this weekend.

It's all retweeted in the Twitter Report for December, 17, 2009. Read More...

The latest rumor to hit the 'Net arrived earlier this morning, with a report that the fourth "Spider-Man" film had been put on "indefinite hold."

Citing an anonymous source, IESB reported, "there are some major issues director Sam Raimi is dealing with that include an incomplete script. ... Raimi and the studio heads at Sony Pictures can't agree upon a villain for the film."

Bryan SingerDuring the Los Angeles premiere of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, Bryan Singer let it slip that he has recently signed on to direct “X-men: First Class.”

While being interviewed on the red carpet by a film crew from Myspace, Singer said "I'm ramping up to do a movie called 'Jack the Giant Killer' at Warner Bros, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an 'X-Men: First Class Origins' picture, which is kind of cool. I'm very excited."

MTV News first raised the possibility of Singer’s return to the “X-men” franchise back in August when his “Usual Suspects” collaborator Christopher McQuarrie signed on to write the sequel to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Read More...

Rene RussoVeteran actress Rene Russo has signed on to appear in Kenneth Branagh’s greatly anticipated adaptation of “Thor.”

According to Variety, Russo has been cast as Frigga, the wife of Odin — portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in the film — and the mother of Thor and Loki, who are played by Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston respectively.

Frigga’s role in the film may differ from her few appearances in the “Thor” comic. In Marvel’s continuity, Frigga is the step-mother of both Thor and Loki — not their actual mother. Thor is the son of Odin and the Earth goddess Gaea while Loki is adopted by Odin after his Frost Giant parents are slain in battle. Read More...

X-Men Origins: WolverineWhile the online leak of an early print of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" back in April certainly didn't seem to hurt the film's success at the box office, that doesn't mean there aren't going to be repercussions for those involved — and the FBI made its first arrest in the investigation Wednesday.

According to CNET, 47-year-old Gilberto Sanchez was arrested in the Bronx, N.Y., by FBI agents early yesterday morning under suspicion of uploading the unfinished film to a large file-sharing site. The arrest was later confirmed by a spokesperson for the law enforcement agency's Los Angeles field office, which is heading the investigation.

However, the official text of the grand jury indictment targeting Sanchez doesn't address how Sanchez acquired the print of the film, meaning that the source of the leak could still be unknown or under investigation — and that more arrests are likely. Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Iron Man is back in action — and this time, he brought some new friends.

The first trailer for director Jon Favreau's highly anticipated "Iron Man 2" premiered online Wednesday night, the result of a short-lived (but nonetheless mysterious) viral marketing campaign. While fans have already caught glimpses of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and his heavily armed sidekick War Machine (Don Cheadle) thanks to the film's previously released poster, the new trailer easily provides the best sense of what moviegoers can expect when "Iron Man 2" hits theaters next year.

We've used our very own Stark Industries technology — by which we mean our low-grade laptops — to sort through the "Iron Man 2" trailer for a shot-by-shot breakdown. Strap on your armor and set repulsor rays to stun as we analyze the amazing footage from the comic book adaptation's first trailer.

ConcreteTHE STORY: "Concrete" by Paul Chadwick (W/A) - Dark Horse Comics

WHAT IT'S ABOUT: "Concrete" is a high-concept alien abduction story that leaves its hero, Ronald Lithgow, stranded on Earth after aliens transplant his brain into a hulking new body. Incapable of normal human interaction and unable to seek revenge against the aliens who kidnapped and brutalized him, he takes on the name Concrete and becomes a celebrity adventurer under the cover story that he is a cyborg government experiment.

One of the best lasting indie comics series to come out of the '80s, it takes the heart of Ben Grimm's Thing situation in "The Fantastic Four" and isolates Concrete in a role that forces him to find meaning and pleasure in life without ever being able to be accepted as human by those around him.
