The mysterious viral marketing campaign for "Iron Man 2" is at an end — for now at least — with the final result being the world premiere of the movie's first official trailer.

Unveiled this week, the "Iron Man 2" trailer provides our best glimpse yet at Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), War Machine (Don Cheadle), the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and more in the Jon Favreau-directed Marvel movie.
While today's earlier Entertainment Tonight teaser has already provided us with a healthy indicator of the movie's plot, there's truly nothing like seeing the real thing in all of its high-definition glory. Here are just a few of our favorite moments from the trailer:

New footage from "Iron Man 2" is set to debut on tonight's episode of "Entertainment Tonight," and by now you've probably seen the promotional clips that hit the 'Net earlier today, so we have to ask: does all of the footage reveal too much?
With today's peek at what's likely to be even more footage from "Iron Man 2," it stands to reason that a lot of the questions floating around Splash Page HQ have found their answers. In fact, we can deduce most of the storyline involving Iron Man and War Machine from today's promo ads alone.
So consider this a big ol' SPOILER ALERT, folks — because we're about to get all sorts of theoretical. Read more...

Last week, one of the wild "Spider-Man 4" casting rumors flying around the 'Net had John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway playing the Vulture and "The Vulturess," respectively, in the web-slinger's next big-screen adventure. Sure, it seemed pretty ridiculous (not so much the Malkovich/Vulture part, but the idea of having a character named Felicia Hardy become "The Vulturess," as the site claimed), but we had to check in with "Spider-Man" franchise star Tobey Maguire to get some feedback on the rumor.
"In terms of 'Spidey 4,' I will plead the Fifth and not say anything," said Maguire when asked if there was any truth to the rumor. Pressed to address whether he's a fan of Malkovich and Hathaway, and whether he'd like to see either actor/actress in the film, Maguire dodged. "Who knows, who knows..." he smirked.

The image up above this text is a sneak preview of the EXCLUSIVE "Sherlock Holmes" clip that you'll be able to see on today's episode of "Behind the Screen." It's a pretty action-packed sequence that we've got for you, and taken from relatively early in the movie, so don't worry about any spoilers. It's a great flick, surprisingly faithful to the Holmes mythology while mixing in liberal amounts of impressively staged action. Read more...

Robert Downey Jr. already has one Golden Globe win under his belt for his work on "Ally McBeal," but he'll return to the running this year thanks to "Sherlock Holmes," and that nomination has his "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau quite pleased.
Less pleased on Twitter yesterday was Chris Ryall, who thinks KISS got shafted by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to make way for ABBA's induction. Check out his retweeted thoughts after the jump along with some Mitch Breitweiser art, Tony Millionaire on why a magazine rejected his "Maakies" comic and Ivan Brandon's triumphant post about accurately predicting the Twitter Report headline yesterday.
It's all in today's report for December 16, 2009. Read more...

A pair of "Iron Man 2"-themed promo spots for tonight's episode of "Entertainment Tonight" have hit the 'Net, and the ads offer up quite a bit of new footage from the much-anticipated sequel to the 2008 blockbuster — including the first official footage of War Machine!
Official clips of War Machine in action had previously been seen during the "Iron Man 2" panel at Comic-Con International, but those who weren't able to check out that footage got their first peek at War Machine last week, courtesy of a new "Iron Man 2" poster. Now, the world finally gets a good look at the other man in the armor suit in action in the two promo spots now posted on YouTube (and embedded below).

"Scott Pilgrim" director Edgar Wright has posted a new photo from next year's live-action adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's hit series, and the new shot offers the first good (though slightly skewed) image of Michael Cera as the film's title character, as well as several other cast members in costume.
Wright posted the photo (actually a photo of a photo) on his Flickr stream this week, and you can see a larger version of it there.

The image features "Scott Pilgrim" characters Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), Ramona V. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Young Neil (Johnny Simmons), Knives Chau (Ellen Wong), Kim Pine (Alison Pill), and Stephen Stills (Mark Webber).

The viral marketing campaign for "Iron Man 2" continues to roll on, as the third and latest fictional newspaper clipping has appeared online.
The faux article — titled "Tony Starks' confession: 'I am Iron Man'" — debuted online at CHUD, but the story's content is practically unreadable due to the clipping being partially ripped in half. From what we're privy to, the article seems to provide some history on Stark Industries and the impact that Tony declaring himself as Iron Man has made upon the company.

Tony Stark has donned plenty of armors that would be better left out of "Iron Man 2" and any subsequent Marvel films in favor of giving his classic look (and War Machine) a bigger spotlight.
War Machine, however, is just one of Tony Stark's technical masterpieces that have appeared over the course of Iron Man's half century in comics. Here are five others that would shake up theaters in an Iron Man film.
HULKBUSTER ARMOR
If Robert Downey Jr. ever confronts Edward Norton on-screen in a Marvel film, expect there to be a long pause with some loud metallic stomping noises before the camera pans up to reveal the most intimidating armor set Tony's ever put on. Last used by Stark to confront the Hulk during his post-"World War Hulk" rage, he tricked it out with adamantium needles capable of injecting the big green guy with nanites. It's the only protective suit that comes close to offering an edge in a fist fight with angry Bruce Banner.
