Green LanternIt was a green week here on Splash Page, with both Hal Jordan and Bruce Banner's alter egos making multiple appearances in this week's popular headlines. But Green Lantern and Hulk weren't the only superheroes generating super-sized buzz.

"Iron Man 2" and "Deadpool" updates numbered among the week's biggest posts, and joined a pair of decidedly less superhero-centered items involving "The Losers" and the death of "Catcher in the Rye" author J.D. Salinger. A rare update from M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of "The Last Airbender" also got readers' attention.

Read on for a full breakdown of the week's Top 10 Stories for January 24-30, 2010. Read More...

The AvengersOkay, so when someone dropped me a line about this one, I'll confess to being a bit... skeptical. But lo and behold, it's true: using the Konami code on the Marvel website yields a brilliant result.

For those not familiar with it, the Konami code is a series of buttons that, when entered on many of the titles produced by video game developer Konami, yields various in-game bonuses. The "up, up, down, down, left, right. left, right, B, A" code was first popularized in the U.S. with as a way to give yourself 30 extra lives in the game "Contra."

If you go to Marvel.com right now and press the above sequence of keys followed by "Enter," you'll also get an in-game bonus of sorts. Read More...

Although Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the Hulk is in "The Avengers," there's still no official word regarding Edward Norton's involvement in the film.

While "Incredible Hulk" director Louis Leterrier thinks that the actor's return is possible, it's still worth wondering who could replace Norton as Bruce Banner should the need arise. It would be nice to find a performer that looks and acts like Norton to maintain continuity from Banner's most recent appearance, but I think that it's even more important for a potential replacement to put his own unique stamp on the character.

If Norton decides not to participate in "The Avengers," here are five actors that could easily transform into Bruce Banner in his place. Read More...

Captain America - Matt SalingerBy Joel Hanek

Many are still mourning the loss of "Catcher in the Rye" author J.D. Salinger, who passed away yesterday at the age of 91. Even though the enigmatic writer was beloved by filmmakers and the entertainment industry in general, none of his works were ever officially sanctioned for adaption into film (and the ones that did were not well received).

However, in addition to Holden Caulfield, Mr. Salinger also had a hand in creating another prolific American character... so to speak. His son, Matt Salinger, portrayed Steve Rogers in the forgotten 1990 adaptation of “Captain America."

While there's a lot of buzz about the forthcoming "The First Avenger: Captain America" movie, this ‘90s tale of the Nazi-bashing Avenger reminds us of an era when — save for Tim Burton — Hollywood wasn’t quite sure how to pull off the comic book adaptation. And lucky for us, the full movie is available on Hulu.com — and now, right here in this post, too. Read More...

Wonder Woman - TwitterMourning over the death of J.D. Salinger and an extended discussion thread of reactions to a "Wonder Woman" complaint that Gail Simone received contributed to a grande-sized Twitter Report today -- so lucky you! Unsurprisingly, the "Catcher in the Rye" author's passing at the age of 91 prompted tweets from writers, artists and publishers alike. Nearly the same range of creators have been responding to Simone, who tweeted that she's been accused of portraying women poorly in her recent "Wonder Woman" work.

In totally uncontroversial tweeting, actor Michael Papajohn, who was recently cast in "Jonah Hex," has been on the set, and he's not giving anything big away, but you'll probably be jealous when you see his last post. Check out all of these retweets after the jump along with Terry Moore's iPhone disappointment and a nice Hulk sketch by Brian Denham.

It's all in the Twitter Report for January 29, 2010. Read More...

The LosersIt's been a while since we had any new photos off the set of "The Losers," but a quick trailer preview just showed up sporting fire, broken glass and some quick one-liners from Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chris Evans.

[UPDATE: "The Losers" trailer (the complete one) is now online!]

The montage of moments (posted on MorganUnlimited) includes Morgan's motif-setting statement for the film, "If you want your life back, you're gonna have to steal it," and there should be more trailer action on the way soon, both on "Entertainment Tonight" and in theaters.

"I'm assured the full trailer should be released online within the next few days, and that it'll play before Mel Gibson's 'Edge of Darkness' this weekend," wrote "Losers" comic author Andy Diggle on his blog.

DESCOne of the not-so-secret secrets of the comic book movie world is that there's a new "Judge Dredd" film in development based on a screenplay from "28 Days Later" scribe Alex Garland with visuals provided by "The Losers" artist Jock. Beyond those details — and the presumed exclusion of former "Dredd" star Sylvester Stallone — little else is known about the project.

Curious to find out more, 2000AD Review spoke with John Wagner, the creator of "Judge Dredd," about his involvement and knowledge of the developing adaptation.

According to the creator, the upcoming take should be much closer to the "Dredd" comics than the widely panned first film was. Read More...

Ellen DeGeneresLast month, we gave you the first look at "Female Force: Ellen DeGeneres," the latest in Bluewater Productions' line of comic-book biographies of famous women. Back then, we only had unlettered, black-and-white pages from the comic, but now we have an exclusive, finished preview of the issue hitting shelves in March.

The comic promises to follow the entertainer "from her youth in Louisiana, through the endless smoke-filled comedy club circuit, to her breakthrough sitcom and finally as an Emmy-winning daytime talk show host." Written by Sandra C. Ruckdeschel with art by Pedro Ponzo, "Female Force: Ellen DeGeneres" will feature many of the touchstone moments from her career — including her recent addition to the "American Idol" judging panel.

The publisher has also informed MTV News that a portion of the proceeds from the comic will be donated to The Humane Society in DeGeneres' name. Read More...

NBCNBC has picked up a new comic book inspired one-hour drama pilot called “The Cape.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Cape” is a “light drama with a comic book sensibility.” The story focuses on a former Los Angeles cop who becomes a masked hero in order to clear his name and reunite with his son.
