The fate of the Spider-Man movie franchise has been bouncing around on everyone's tweets in the comics world today. Brian Michael Bendis won't admit to knowing anything, though he encourages everyone reading his tweets to suggest his services to Sony. Stan Lee, meanwhile, is just excited to know people are talking about Spider-Man, and Erik Larsen just wanted the new film to be better than "Superman Returns."
In other tweets, Jon Favreau promised Kenneth Branagh that he would hang out on the "Thor" set a lot more, and Andy Diggle wants to see Favreau use that presence to get Branagh on Twitter. Check out those posts after the jump along with a post in memory of French director Eric Rohmer and Len Wein's desire to know what it means when someone says they feel like him.
It's all in the Twitter Report for January 12, 2010.
"Thor" pt 1: @Jon_Favreau Congrats to Kenneth and the Thor gang on first day of photography. I will def excercise "executive privilege" and hang out on their set.
-Jon Favreau, Director ("Iron Man," "Iron Man 2")
"Thor" pt 2: @andydiggle @Jon_Favreau Maybe you could encourage Branagh & co to start Twittering!
-Andy Diggle, Writer ("The Losers," "Daredevil")
@edgarwright In all seriousness, I am sad to see Mister Raimi go from the franchise. For me, SpiderMan 2 is easily one of the greatest comic book films.
-Edgar Wright, Director ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World")
@smilinstanlee Marvel knows what makes a great Spidey film. If something isn't right, they're courageous enuff to dump it and start over. That takes guts
-Stan Lee, Writer ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "The Fantastic Four")
@jonrosenberg I think the real reason spider-man 4 got cancelled was the CIA got nervous about bruce campbell finally getting a large mainstream role.
-Jon Rosenberg, Writer/Artist ("Goats")
@BRIANMBENDIS i work as a consultant on the marvel movies. this is a sony movie. i have no involvement. but maybe if you all scream loud enough ![]()
-Brian Michael Bendis, Writer ("New Avengers," "Ultimate Spider-Man")
@kodychamberlain Honestly? I'm kind of done with Spiderman movies anyway. That last one jumped the shark. Emo spidey? Dancing on chairs? Come on man.
-Kody Chamberlain, Artist ("Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu," "Punks")
@ErikJLarsen Superman Returns tried to hard to be Superman the Motion Picture, @Titan4Ever2488 it played all the same notes and it felt redundant.
-Erik Larsen, Writer/Artist ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Savage Dragon")
@JoshFialkov With Eric Rohmer dead, the last of the great foreign masters has left us.
RIP
-Joshua Hale Fialkov, Writer ("Cyblade," "Elk's Run")
Parting Wisdom for the Day:
