Last week, it was revealed that Brian Michael Bendis had help from a new collaborator in bringing "Powers" to the small screen on the FX Network, though the writer's identity remained unnamed at the time.
Now, thanks to the folks at Premium Hollywood, a name can be put to the mystery man — none other than Kevin Falls, the creator and showrunner of NBC's short-lived but well-received "Journeyman."
FX's President and General Manager John Landgraf revealed Falls' identity on Friday, following up on an earlier interview where he described some of the changes and revisions necessary in adapting "Powers" for television.
"[You're] asking yourself the question, 'What stays and what goes?'" Landgraf posited. "For example, the Retro Girl murder story: should that whole story be told in the pilot, or do we introduce it and tell it later? But the new writer [now identified as Falls] and Brian have got a good take on it. They came in about two months ago and pitched what they were doing, and it was great."
Falls was previously identified as the showrunner for "Powers," but this is the first indicator that he'll be involved in the pilot's writing process. Bendis described Falls as a creative talent "[much] higher up on the food chain than I thought we were going to get," due not just to the showrunner's past work on "Journeyman," but also on "The West Wing" and "Sports Night."
Michael Dinner is still attached to direct the "Powers" pilot, having previously directed the "Bionic Woman" pilot and "Sons of Anarchy" for the FX Network.
