As "Green Lantern" prepares for a March production start, the size and scope of the film is getting clearer. Thanks to word from director Martin Campbell himself, we know that Hal Jordan is flying into space and encountering a wide range of Green Lantern Corps members including Kilowog. What we don't know is what these space-faring characters are going to look like — but a set of purported concept images could give us a good idea.
Cosmic Book News has posted what they believe to be concept art from the upcoming "Green Lantern" film, though they are quick to note that the images could be false. If accurate, however, this is certainly the best look yet at concept designs for characters like Kilowog, Abin Sur and Tomar-Re.
The most impressive design easily belongs to Kilowog, looking paler than his typically hot pink comic book counterpart. Based on the design, it's clear that the character will require a heavy CGI assist, but I suspect that make-up effects will be utilized in bringing Kilowog to life. Also impressive is the concept art for Abin Sur and Tomar-Re. If the images are legitimate, I'd expect a heavy mixture of CGI and make-up for these characters as well.
In addition to the images, the site also has a rundown on a purported "Green Lantern" screenplay from 2008. The authenticity of the script is unknown, but you might want to proceed with caution in case of spoilers.
Needless to say, everything you see here — concept sketches of Kilowog and others, the script report — could easily be a fake. But if nothing else, it provides a cool glimpse at what "Green Lantern" could look like, offering a substantial tease while we wait for the production to finally get underway.
