Call me crazy, but I think it's going to be a long time before the cheap shots at a "Watchmen" sequel subside in the Twitter Report feed. I'm tightening the retweet spout for now (unless they're ridiculously funny) — and besides, "Secret Avengers" commentary is all the rage now. Just ask Ed Brubaker.
There was a also a healthy amount of mentoring going on today, with Neil Gaiman educating his daughter through "The Big Bang Theory" and Todd McFarlane holding up some artwork to illustrate an inking demonstration. Check it all out after the jump along with some thoughts on "Smallville," the iPad and why you shouldn't do hard drugs.
It's all in the Twitter Report for February 9, 2010.
@GailSimone People are going to be really surprised by Teen Watchmen. We've even got a pirate comic (sorta!).
-Gail Simone, Writer ("Birds of Prey," "Wonder Woman")
Avengers pt. 1: @brubaker Oh internet, please stop calling and emailing... I can't tell you who they are. It's "secret" for a reason.
-Ed Brubaker, Writer ("Captain America," "Incognito")
Avengers pt. 2: @brubaker Okay, first, one of them isn't Thor, and another of them isn't Iron Man.
Avengers pt. 3: @andydiggle Writing a scene with the Avengers. The PROPER Avengers. Nerding out slightly.
-Andy Diggle, Writer ("The Losers," "Hellblazer")
@neilhimself I love watching THE BIG BANG THEORY with Maddy. I get to explain all the comics jokes and translate the yiddish. My fatherhood has purpose.
-Neil Gaiman, Writer ("The Sandman," "Miracleman")
@Todd_McFarlane http://twitpic.com/1268up - ARTWORK: Here is a side by side view of a pencil rough versus finished inking. The rough was done by Greg Capull
-Todd McFarlane, Writer/Artist ("Spawn," "The Amazing Spider-Man")
@BrianDenham Frank Miller may make a bad SPIRIT movie but why don't they let him do DAREDEVIL?
-Brian Denham, Artist ("Iron Man: Hypervelocity," "Man-Thing")
@gabrielhardman Watched the JSA episode of Smallville. Every actor on the show was picked at random from the Coffee Bean on Sunset & Fairfax.
-Gabriel Hardman, Artist ("Agents of Atlas," "The Black Cat")
@ThatKevinSmith Via @quadscks "have u ever tried cocaine" Nah, I'm a puss. Weed's as hard as I ever went. 1986 death of Len Bias removed ANY coke interest.
-Kevin Smith, Writer ("Batman: Cacophony," "Daredevil")
Parting Wisdom for the Day:
@pauljholden Dear anyone making 'an iTunes for comics' - keep it simple, well tagged and don't reinvent the desktop. Also? No motion. Makes me feel sick.
-P.J. Holden, Artist ("Judge Dredd," "The 86ers")
