Valentine's Day - Spider-ManBy Sujay Kumar

Shakespeare wrote that "Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds." And with Valentine's Day coming up, that phrase can be adapted for the comic book world to "love is not love which alters when alter-egos are found." After all, our favorite superheroes may battle villains for a living, but sometimes it's heartbreak that proves to be the ultimate enemy.

On film we've seen Peter Parker woo Mary Jane, Rachel Dawes fall for Bruce Wayne, and even the Hulk get his heart pumping for Betty Ross. But in the lexicon of comic books, there's plenty of other stories that would make us feel all warm inside.

Read on for five of our favorite comic book romances that we'd love to see adapted (in some cases, a second time) on the big screen. Read More...

Logan LermanLet the record show that "Spider-Man" is one franchise that you should never count out, even when the odds are stacked against it. After pulling the plug on "Spider-Man 4" and dropping director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire, Sony Pictures quickly recruited a new director and set a new 3-D release date for the film.

While things are clearly getting back on track for the Marvel property, fans are still in the dark on the identity of the next Peter Parker. Earlier this month, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star Logan Lerman was said to be "in talks" to star as Spider-Man, but the actor has since clarified the news as a misunderstanding.

But even if he isn't the definitive frontrunner, should we discount Lerman from the casting pool? Definitely not – not until we've seen "Percy Jackson," at least. Read More...

Kick-AssIf you've ever wanted to make a comic book cameo, a new "Kick-Ass" contest from Lionsgate could give you that chance.

Vistors to www.IWillKickAss.com can upload a picture of themselves, created a superhero using various stock costume items, and then submit it for a chance to a cameo in Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s sequel comic.

While I'm pretty sure ol' "Captain Splash Page" isn't going to win (and will probably haunt your nightmares for weeks), I'm also pretty sure you can do a much better job, readers — so give it a shot and let me know how it turns out.

Read on for the full text of the instructions and a promotional video from Lionsgate.

Joe JonasWhy does Demi Lovato hate Spider-Man?

It's a rare occasion when the audiences for "Camp Rock" and comic books meet, but singer/actress Lovato created exactly that sort of weird convergence last night when she kicked off a Twitter campaign to make Joe Jonas the new Spider-Man in Marc Webb's upcoming reboot of the franchise. With a release date, director and 3-D treatment for "Spider-Man" now official, the next big step is to find the perfect Peter Parker — and according to Lovato, it's the middle Jonas Brother.

And now I'm wondering: is this the worst casting suggestion of this year, the last few years, or maybe... ever?

Not only is Superman flying back to the big screen, he's doing so under the watchful eye of "The Dark Knight" filmmaker Christopher Nolan. With Nolan's sensibilities guiding the film's tone, you can bet that this is going to be a more mature — though not necessarily dark — "Superman" movie.

As the rights to the character's Kryptonian origins are currently in murky legal waters, I think it's best if the next movie dives directly into the Man of Steel's status as an established hero. Personally, I'd love to see Superman in his late 30s, a seasoned veteran at the superhero game. That's not to everybody's taste, of course, so I'm keeping an open mind towards younger actors as well.

There's no question that Superman is a difficult role to cast, but these five actors — two older, two younger and one familiar — could make you believe a man can fly. Read More...

TwitterThe Winter Olympics athletes in Vancouver are ready to hit the slopes, and while some sports fans (like Kevin Smith) expect big things, other faces in the Twitter Report (like Rob Liefeld) just want "30 Rock" to return to its regularly scheduled time slot.

Elsewhere across the Twitterverse, Jon Favreau paid a visit to the Abbey Road Studios and took a picture, Phil Hester laid out his honest opinion about Valentine's Day, and a micro-review of "Blackest Night: The Question" showed up from Gabriel Hardman. Check those out after the jump, where you can also find out who's been trying to get in touch with Kieth Giffen and what Christopher Mintz-Plasse would like to see happen on "Lost" now that it's sharing cast members with "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."

Enjoy the long weekend and the Twitter Report for February 12, 2010. Read More...

The GoonLate last year, we brought you the news that "The Goon" creator Eric Powell had finished the first draft of a script for the animated feature based on his horror-noir series. Fans attending last year's Comic-Con in San Diego already received their first peek at a CG-animated teaser for the film, which is produced by David Fincher and Blur Studios and happens to feature the voices of actors Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti as the zombie-killing Goon and his pal Frankie, respectively.

When MTV News caught up with Giamatti during a press event for historical drama "The Last Station," we managed to slip in a few questions about the decidedly different vibe of "The Goon." Though the film has yet to receive the green light and make Giamatti and Brown's involvement official, the "American Splendor" actor made no secret of his desire to see the project move forward.

"We did a short little teaser thing of it that was great," Giamatti told MTV News. "And hopefully it actually happens, you know? I was not aware of that comic book at all." Read More...

The release date for "The Losers," Sylvain White's adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic book series by Andy Diggle and Jock, has been pushed back from April 9 to a new premiere on June 4.

Warner Brothers confirmed the new release date today, which will have the film opening just one week ahead of "The A-Team," which shares the somewhat similar theme of exiled, highly trained soldiers on a mission to find out who put them on the wrong side of the law. The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana and Idris Elba, among others.
