During last weekend's Toy Fair, I posted an image on Twitter of Kotobukiya's amazingly detailed Red Hulk statue, and it prompted a lot of reader requests for information about the company's other superhero-inspired collectibles.
Well, I'm finally getting through the last few batches of photos from the event, and lo and behold, they feature some great images of Kotobukiya's Iron Man statues (Mark IV and Mark VI armor), as well as "Avengers" teammates Captain America and Thor, and even Dr. Doom (accurately depicted with both condescending gaze and seething hatred). There are also some pics of the concept sketches for upcoming Wolverine and Psylocke statues, as well as some shots of their Marvel Bishouju (they told me it means "sexy girl") line.
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell which pictures are of that last group. Read more...

Our friendly neighborhood reboot swings into theaters in 2012, and given that Sony plans on filming "Spider-Man" in 3D — possibly with the aid of James Cameron — comic book fans have plenty to look forward to for the next few years.
With the casting of Peter Parker hanging in the balance and names like Logan Lerman ("Percy Jackson") and Zac Efron ("High School Musical") being tossed around, it may be a good idea to put on some 3-D glasses and ponder the visual elements that could benefit from innovative "Avatar"-style technology.
Here are a few elements of the film that could benefit from 3-D effects, and turn an amazing movie into the ultimate film. Read more...

The upcoming "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" animated film marks the return of Dwayne McDuffie to the characters he wrote in both the "Justice League" comic series and the "Justice League Unlimited" animated series.
"It was really fun to get back with the old characters again," McDuffie told MTV News during the Los Angeles premiere of "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths." "To have a budget like this, to have talented directors, story board artist and musicians and the great actors we had who were able to take what was good about the old show to an entirely new level. You've never seen superhero action like this in any kind of animated film. It's just amazing."
McDuffie also revealed that he will be writing two additional DC animated movies, following the previously announced "Batman: Under The Red Hood" by Judd Winick.

Spawn might be Todd McFarlane's most famous solo creation, but it was his work on Spider-Man that first made the veteran creator a superstar in the comics world.
Knowing that he's spent much of his career navigating between the comics world and Hollywood, we tracked down McFarlane at Toy Fair 2010 to get his take on the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, why it happened, and what he hopes to see when the webslinger returns to the big screen.
"I'm going to take a guess that the reboot is driven mostly by business and economics," McFarlane told MTV News. "There's a bit of a diminishing return on movies." Read more...

The "Spider-Man" movie's team members weren't the only ones on Brian Michael Bendis' meetings schedule this week. It looks like things are moving forward with his "Fire" adaptation at Universal as well.
Meanwhile, DC Comics tweeting was lively yesterday in the wake of the news that Jim Lee and Geoff Johns' new role announcements there. Erik Larsen was fascinated by the facial hair changes that coincided with DC's reorganization, and Johns thinks they may have topped Tiger Woods in terms of coolness. Check out those retweets after the jump, as well as how Nathan Fillion thinks his ship from "Serenity" would fare against the Enterprise.
It's all in the Twitter Report for February 19, 2010. Read more...

Like it or not, a "Daredevil" reboot is coming. It's incredibly unlikely that former star Ben Affleck (or anybody associated with the old film's creative side, for that matter) will return for the new film, leaving us to wonder who the next actor to preside over Hell's Kitchen will be.
Casting Daredevil is harder than one might think. You need someone who can pull off Matt Murdock's undying fealty to justice and the legal system, but also can still get gritty and menacing when the billy clubs come out. Someone proficient in intense action sequences would be nice — that's likely why some fans have supported Jason Statham for the part — but in my opinion, it's much more important to find an actor that can get inside of Murdock's head space, both as a lawyer and as a vigilante.
With those qualities in mind, here are five actors that could take the next "Daredevil" movie by the horns. Read more...

Several artists and designers from Marvel Entertainment are scheduled to appear Sunday night on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Currently in its seventh season on ABC, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is a popular reality series hosted by Ty Pennington — formerly of "Trading Spaces" — that brings skilled professional builders and volunteers together to provide home renovations for families in dire need. The episode on Sunday, February 21 will focus on Tobin and Jill Wagstaff and their four children. The Wagstaff family runs a non-profit music school out of their home that serves approximately 200 people within their community.
Marvel Entertainment personnel collaborated with the "Home Makeover" team to create a superhero-themed room for Tobin James Jr., the seven-year-old son of the Wagstaffs. Additionally, Marvel commissioned an original cover by artist Todd Nauck with colors by John Rauch that features TJ teaming up with Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man, which will be used as a cover for an upcoming Marvel comic that is scheduled to be released in April. One of the most memorable moments of director Louis Leterrier's "Incredible Hulk" movie was Robert Downey Jr.'s brief cameo as Tony Stark during a scene with William Hurt's Gen. Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. And while Stark's line about "putting a team together" suggested a carefully worded reference to the "Avengers" movie, Hurt recently revealed that the entire scene was improvised with Downey.
"We improv’d that," related Hurt during an interview with Collider. "The entire scene had no lines written down. We did improv for that entire scene. We actually both had more of a script because of that and a feeling of more invention because of that. So we could actually go, ‘okay, who do I think my character is…what would he say next. I haven’t a clue, let’s have a shot at it.’" Read more...

Today was full of big changes at DC Entertainment, and when DC President Diane Nelson spoke with MTV News earlier today about what those changes mean for the company, its creators and comics, I made sure to get her thoughts on a few other recent items of note, too.
Named the head of the new subdivision of Warner Bros. back in September 2009, Nelson is charged with managing the evolution of Superman, Batman and the rest of the DC Universe across various media platforms, and reports directly to Warner Bros. Pictures President Jeff Robinov.
"Wouldn't you like to know!" laughed Nelson when asked if there was any truth to the recent rumor that "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan will oversee a reboot of the "Superman" movie franchise.

Earlier today, DC Entertainment ended months of speculation when it announced the members of its new executive team. Jim Lee and Dan DiDio were named Co-Publishers of DC Comics along with Geoff Johns (Chief Creative Officer), John Rood (Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development), and Patrick Caldon (Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration).
However, like any big announcement, the news sparked a whole new set of questions from fans and media regarding the the decision-making process and the effect the new team will have on both DC Entertainment and the new execs' pre-existing, hands-on involvement with Superman, Batman and the rest of the DC Universe.
MTV News went straight to the top and spoke to DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson about the announcement and the big questions on fans' minds. Read more...
