Scott PilgrimFans of Bryan Lee O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" comic book series have been dissecting the new trailer obsessively since it premiered late last week, but when we first saw it, there were a few scenes ripped straight from the comic that really stuck out to us.

Sure, it's no surprise that director Edgar Wright seems to be paying the Oni Press series lots of respect in his adaptation, but how closely certain shots appeared to mirror their comics counterparts should be a nice bonus for fans. We've compiled our five favorite straight-from-comics moments from the trailer, and put them side-by-side (well, top-and-bottom, actually) for comparison.

Dick Giordano's AquamanDick Giordano, the former DC Comics VP and executive editor, as well as one of the most recognizable comic book artists of the modern era, passed away over the weekend, and memories abounded on Twitter from his former colleagues and those whose work he inspired.

Elsewhere, "Iron Man 2" passed another landmark as Jon Favreau revealed that this would be his last weekend working on the film. The Twitter Report feed won't be the same without his editing updates. Savor one of the last work posts you'll see from him for a while after the jump. There, you can find out what "Goats" anniversary is coming up this week, as well as what Brian Michael Bendis' found out about Lady Gaga over the weekend and which premiere Edgar Wright got an invitation to attend.

It's all in the Twitter Report for March 29th, 2010. Read more...

The first "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" trailer hit the 'Net last week, and it's been all anyone can talk about since its arrival — especially Splash Page readers!

I asked you to send us your 140-character reviews of the trailer via Twitter, and now I've finally had a chance to round up a bunch of them to post on the site. Responses seemed to range from "pretty good" to "OMG!!! GREATEST TRAILER EVAH!!!" so it's safe to say that readers trended toward the positive when expounding on the highs and lows of our first look at Edgar Wright's "Scott Pilgrim" movie.

However, rather than try to summarize them, I've compiled a selection of some of my favorite responses from last week's reader-reaction survey. Read more...

Iron Man 2A new "Iron Man 2" trailer debuted during this weekend's Kids Choice Awards, and while it offers much of the same footage we've seen previously, there are some new elements fans should be excited about.

Along with giving Scarlett Johansson's character, Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. Black Widow), a few lines, the footage also seems to indicate that she's providing some assistance to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle). We also get a few more lines of dialogue from War Machine himself, with Rhodes telling Stark what he can do with his armor.

Oh, and you can see the most recent, official "Iron Man 2" trailer here on Splash Page in high-def if the TV spot makes you yearn for more Iron Man. Read more...

Okay, so it's not an official poster for "The Avengers," Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero team-up extravaganza, but what's a little Photoshop fun among friends?

Now that Chris Evans has been cast as Captain America, the final member of the team's core cast (or what we know of it, at least) has a face to go with the role. And while there are probably still a few more "Avengers" characters that need to be cast, we decided to try our hand at envisioning what a poster for the 2012 film might look like.

Many thanks to MTV's Andrew Ross-Rowe for the Photoshop skillz.

GaikingBack in the '70s, Mattel released a toyline called "Shogun Warriors" which was made up of several imported Japanese toys that were based on a popular anime series. "Shogun Warriors" was later adapted into a 20-issue comic book series by Marvel Comics, featuring writer Doug Moench and artist Herb Trimpe.

While the franchise has been dormant for several years, word has emerged that "Gaiking" and the rest of the "Shogun Warriors" may be heading to the big screen in the near future.

According to Ain't it Cool News, a "Gaiking" film is being planned for 2012 release date by director Matthew Gratzner and special effects artist Jules Urbach, with a potential "Shogun Warriors" film planned as a sequel. While the report didn't indicate which giant robots from "Shogun Warriors" would appear in the films, it did offer some insight into how the robots will be brought to the big screen, and some impressive test footage created to promote the project. Mark MillarOne of the most polarizing creators in the comics industry, "Kick-Ass" co-creator Mark Millar dropped another bomb on fans this weekend by claiming he'd been "offered 'X-Men 4'" by Fox.

In a post on his message board titled "Fox Just Offered Me X-Men 4: The Toughest Decision Of My Career So Far..." Millar said an exec at the studio offered him a fourth "X-Men" film in some unknown capacity, but he turned the offer down. He shared a few details about the studio's plans for the franchise, then explained why he made the decision to concentrate on creator-owned projects rather than an established franchise.

"I have no doubt he's going to put together an amazing movie here because the people he's talking about behind the camera are all friends and heroes of mine," wrote Millar. "He also offered me massive scope with the story and I have an idea I really like, something that takes the franchise in a really fresh direction." Read more...

Iron Man 2Kids, you really can learn a lot from reading books. In fact, Splash Page learned a heck of a lot about "Iron Man 2" from reading the novelization written by Alexander Irvine.

MTV News scored an early copy of the book from a local New York City pharmacy, and as a result, we've learned plenty of juicy details about the upcoming superhero movie. There are many secrets you'll want preserved until May, but we're more than happy to provide you with a taste of things to come before the "Iron Man" sequel arrives in theaters.

After the jump, we've listed some of the things we learned from reading the "Iron Man 2" novel. While many of these details might not be accurate to the final movie product — this is simply based on our knowledge of reading the book — you should still beware of some mild spoilers. Read more...

Jonny Lee MillerLast week, word broke that Jon Bernthal was the first actor to be cast in Frank Darabont's upcoming adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead." With the pilot episode scheduled to begin shooting in May, a potential frontrunner for the lead role has emerged.

According to Bloody Disgusting, actor Jonny Lee Miller is the leading candidate to portray Rick Grimes, a police officer who reluctantly guides a group of survivors in a world infested by zombies. If the report is accurate, Miller would appear opposite Bernthal, who is portraying Shane, Rick's best friend and partner on a small town police force. In the comic book series, Rick and Shane eventually come into conflict over the leadership of the group and for the affections of Rick's wife, Lori.

Rick Grimes is arguably the leading character of the "Walking Dead" comic book, having appeared in nearly every issue of the series since the first issue was released back in 2003. "The Walking Dead" was created by Kirkman and Tony Moore ("Fear Agent") before Charlie Adlard came on board to begin a long stint as the regular artist. Read more...
