Green LanternAngela Bassett's new gig playing Dr. Amanda Waller in "Green Lantern" seemed to draw a line in the sand for comics tweeters this week. Even if they supported her, many critics (including Jamal Igle and Brian Denham) seemed to have their own picks.

Meanwhile, I'm glad I live in a world where Simon Pegg reads "Axe Cop," as the webcomic showed up in his posting today. You can find out what he thought as well as what some comics faces had to say about actor Robert Culp's death, who's making plans for PAX East in Boston and who almost ran over the cast of "Glee."

It's all in the Twitter Report for March 25th, 2010. Read More...

Scott PilgrimI knew something was up when "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" director Edgar Wright posted a trio of mysterious messages on Twitter today.

"Wait. What's that? (looks into distance)," he wrote around 11 AM EST, adding just a few minutes later, "(squints) Ah. I guess it was just a mirage or something."

What he was hinting at was the debut of the "Scott Pilgrim" teaser trailer just a few minutes ago on Apple Movies. While we can't embed the trailer here for you (Boo to you, Apple! Boo!), we do have a few new images that were released along with it. Read More...

PaprikaWolfgang Petersen proved he had an eye for the fantastic with 1984's "The Neverending Story," but the imagery in the source material for his live-action "Paprika" adaptation may take him into scenes that look more like "Akira" or David Cronenberg's "Scanners." The "Troy" and "Poseidon" director loved "Paprika" as an anime, and the treatment he recently received could become a wide release that he compares to "The Matrix."

"We have a young writer on it, and he just delivered a very specific and detailed treatment that we’re working on," Petersen told MTV News. "And then if that’s a go then he will write the screenplay and that will go very fast because the treatment is already very detailed. So I’m very excited about that. I would say it’s on the fast track."

Robert CulpFROM MOVIES BLOG: Like many children of the 80s, I first encountered Robert Culp as the surly FBI handler in "Greatest American Hero." But in the years since then, I experienced more of the actor's wide body of work and he quickly became one of my favorite actors. I watched him in shows like "I Spy" and in films like "P.T. 109," and it was wildly entertaining to see him dish out his trademark barbs.

So it was with great enthusiasm that I booked an interview with the legend at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2008. I've dealt with the biggest stars around, from Anthony Hopkins to Leonardo DiCaprio, so I'm over the whole nervousness thing, but I'll admit I was scared s--tless going into my interview with Robert. Even in his late-70s, he was as snarky as ever and I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully he was very nice, but boy, was he able to throw out sarcasm like a master. I found that out firsthand when I called "Greatest American Hero" a superhero show, and he was lighting quick to jump on me for that.

Rob CorddryGarth Ennis and Darick Robertson's "The Boys" may be one of the most controversial comic books in the industry thanks to its over-the-top violence and humor, but the feature film adaptation appears to be picking up steam. The latest script by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay ("Clash of the Titans") was recently endorsed by "Hot Tub Time Machine" star and former "Daily Show" correspondent, Rob Corddry.

"I want to play a rock star, though I think I’m getting too old for that. I want to play a baseball player, and I want to play a super hero," said Corddry during an interview with The Flickcast. "I probably won’t get the chance to do any of that, except for the baseball player. I have a baseball player’s body. I just read a script based on a comic book called 'The Boys', which is great, and I just loved it." Read More...

Blake LivelyWith filming of director Martin Campbell's "Green Lantern" well underway in New Orleans and only hours after it was announced that Angela Bassett has signed on to portray Amanda Waller in the film, two additional actors have been confirmed to appear within the movie.

According to a post on the Coastal Talent Facebook page, Gattlin Griffith has been cast as "Robert" in "Green Lantern" and will film his part over the course of 12 days. Although Griffith is perhaps best-known for portraying Angelina Jolie's son in "Changeling," he has also appeared in several TV series including "Monk," "Without a Trace," and "Supernatural." ComicBookMovie.com has speculated that Griffith's role could potentially be Hal Jordan's nephew or possibly a young Hal Jordan in a flashback sequence.

Actress and model Marcela Duartee also revealed on Twitter that she was cast in "Green Lantern." While the nature and extent of her role is unclear, Duartee posted pictures of herself on the set with Campbell and "Green Lantern" star Ryan Reynolds. Read More...

The Losers"The Losers" hits theaters next month, bringing Andy Diggle and Jock's long-running comic book series to life in a live-action (emphasis on action) adaptation by director Sylvain White.

We've seen posters and an explosive trailer for the film thus far, but some of the most prolific marketing for the film thus far has come from the book's creators, who have been tirelessly informing fans about anything and everything "Losers"-related around the 'Net. The pair also made a well-documented trip to the film's set, and Jock provided the artistic inspiration for the latest poster.

When I managed to snag some time with White to chat about the film, I asked him about the uncommonly high level of collaboration he's had with the "Losers" co-creators, as well as those recent changes in the film's premiere date and some of his favorite scenes from the film. Read More...
