Chris EvansWhile nothing is official yet, it's being reported that actor Chris Evans has been offered the lead role in "The First Avenger: Captain America."

No stranger to comic book movies, "Captain America" would be the fourth such film in which Evans has had a prominent role (if the rumor turns out to be true and he accepts the role). But as readers know, it's been a long road to get to this point, filled with a multitude of actors who might or might not have been offered, auditioned for, or otherwise been connected with Marvel's red, white and blue soldier-turned-superhero, Steve Rogers.

So, where does Evans stand in your mind? Is he a good choice to sling Cap's shield and rally The Avengers? Can you see him standing toe-to-toe with "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. and the new Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson, when Marvel Studios' blockbuster team-up film arrives in theaters? Read More...

Chris EvansThe long road to casting the lead role in "The First Avenger: Captain America" could be nearing its end, with actor Chris Evans offered the Marvel Comics' hero's iconic red, white and blue uniform.

While there's been no official word from Marvel Studios or Evans' representatives at this point, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the "Fantastic Four" actor has been offered the role of soldier-turned-superhero Steve Rogers. According to the report, Evans would commit to up to three movies based on the character if he accepts the role, as well as "The Avengers" and other unnamed Marvel movies.

If Evans is indeed offered the role and accepts, it would be the fourth live-action comic book movie he appears in (not including 2007's animated "TMNT" movie, in which he voiced Casey Jones). Read More...

"The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan certainly has his hands full these days juggling both the blockbuster Batman movies and an upcoming reboot of the Superman franchise.

With the big-screen futures of DC's best-known characters now under one creator's purview, we had to ask the filmmaker how he's approaching his new gig as the Man of Steel's shepherd — and whether this brings us any closer to a "Justice League" team-up between the two characters.

"We're producing the [Superman] film and David Goyer had a terrific take on the story," Nolan told MTV News during this week's ShoWest convention. "I've been working on the story with David, and he's going to go off and write it, and we'll see where it goes." Read More...

Harry PotterYesterday it was Marvel Comics' "Iron Man By Design" covers that imagined the armored hero through various genres, styles and artists, and today another publisher's marketing campaign that impressed the heck out of me here at Splash Page HQ.

Image Comics' "Guardians Of The Globe" campaign started out as a dig at Marvel but became something all its own this week. Each day, the publisher released a new image headlined "I'm A Member Of The Guardians Of The Globe." Marvel previously conducted a similar campaign, revealing each member of its "New Avengers" team with art headlined "I'm A New Avenger."

However, while the New Avengers roster included characters like Spider-Man and The Thing, Image's Guardians of the Globe featured illustrations of Invincible, Spawn, Rick Grimes of "The Walking Dead," U.S. President Barack Obama, and even Harry Potter. Read More...

Predators - TwitterComics tweeters had a lot of wisdom to impart this morning, not the least of which was Phil Hester, who introduced the phrase "Chasing Batgirl" to my vocabulary. Edgar Wright shared some perspective on "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," and Michael Papajohn indicated that he would love to come back and play Uncle Ben's killer in Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" reboot.

Tap in to all that information after the jump along with some reactions to Robert Rodriguez's new "Predators" trailer, Matt Smith as The Doctor in "Doctor Who" and a "Losers" movie poster sighting in the wild. We also have a prediction regarding Jay-Z's upcoming album.

Team Whedon's online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" surprised a lot of people in 2008 when the first chapter of the three-act production went live with stars Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day. The project went on to spawn prequels and spin-offs in the comic book world, a hit album and fast-selling DVD, and as many expected, an as-yet-untitled sequel.

However, when we caught up with Dr. Horrible himself, Harris told MTV News he expects the sequel to take on a notably different form than its predecessor — namely, as a feature-length film that debuts offline rather than on the Web.

"Apparently they're making a 'Dr. Horrible' sequel — a feature film, I hope," laughed Harris. "I hope they cast me in it — we'll see." Read More...

Iron Man 2At the beginning of February, director Jon Favreau reported that he was in London, overseeing the scoring of "Iron Man 2." While the first "Iron Man" film was scored by Ramin Djawadi, John Debney has stepped in to compose the music for the sequel. Debney has previously worked with Favreau on "Elf" and "Zathura: A Space Adventure" in addition to dozens of other films, including "Sin City" and "End of Days."

"The score to this film is quite different in many ways from the last score," said Debney during an interview with Metal Insider. "This score while employing much guitar and more contemporary elements, it is also much bigger and darker in tone and scope. This film has a much deeper story arc to it than the first, and I think fans will be quite pleased by both the film and the score. We’ve included a large choir for some of the more dramatic moments even singing in Russian to capture the dark Russian soul of Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke)."

Debney also spoke about collaborating with "Rage Against The Machine" guitarist Tom Morello on the "Iron Man 2" score, at Favreau's suggestion. Read More...

Sebastian StanEarlier this week, the shortlist of actors to portray Steve Rogers in director Joe Johnston's "Captain America" film included Garrett Hedlund, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, Ryan Phillippe, Mike Vogel, Sebastian Stan and Wilson Bethel. And while the start of principle photography is slated to begin in June, thus far only Hedlund has been reported to be out of the running for the role. However, a new report indicates that Bethel may also be eliminated as well.

According to IGN, Bethel confirmed that he was out of the race for "The First Avenger: Captain America" with the following message on his Facebook page: "O Captain, My Captain... I am not He... Thanks for all of the love & support." Bethel's screen credits include "Generation Kill", "Cold Case" and "The Young And The Restless."

It's currently unknown if Marvel will cast the role from the remaining candidates or expand the pool of actors as they did after John Krasinski, Chace Crawford, Scott Porter and Michael Cassidy were eliminated. Read More...
