In order to play Russian superspy Black Widow in "Iron Man 2," actress Scarlett Johansson had to not only get in touch with her character's long history and intimidating set of fighting skills, she also had to, well... get into her skin-tight costume.
When MTV News caught up with Johansson during the "Iron Man 2" press junket, the actress offered up some choice comments about the process of getting into character — psychologically, physically and visually.
"The last time I had to wear it, I was like, "Good-bye unitard, I will hopefully see you in 16 months," she said of her parting words to the Black Widow costume, and her hopes that she'll suit up again for "The Avengers." Read more...
Batman fans can start marking their calendars for a return trip to Gotham City, as Warner Bros. will release "Batman 3" into theaters on July 20, 2012.
Production Weekly reports on the release date announcement, settling "Batman 3" into the same weekend frame that its predecessor inhabited back in 2008. The film will hit theaters two and a half months after Marvel Studios' "The Avengers" debuts in May and roughly two weeks after Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot launches in early July.
A few months ago, a report emerged suggesting that David Goyer and Jonah Nolan were in the midst of writing the screenplay for "Batman 3." "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan confirmed the news in an interview suggesting that his third trip to Gotham City would be his last. Read more...

The announcement that Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' "Incognito" has been optioned by Fox led a big morning in comics and movies news topics in the Twitter Report feed. Right behind it was that first picture of Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Everyone obviously had an opinion about both of these topics, though Brubaker may not have been prepared for all of the reactions he encountered.

San Diego Comic-Con International is just around the corner (*shiver*), and you know what that means, right? Well, in addition to upping your dose of stress medication, it also means announcements of Comic-Con exclusive toys and other collectibles are on the horizon.
Over at MTV Movies Blog, they have your first look at an especially cool one: Entertainment Earth's new "Twilight Zone: Talky Tina" bobblehead. As editor Adam Rosenberg points out, she's pretty much the spiritual precursor to killer doll Chucky, and made her debut in a creepy episode titled (appropriately enough) "The Living Doll."
Fans can pick one up at SDCC or, in the event that you can't make it to the big show, she'll be available for online purchase in August. Head over to MoviesBlog.MTV.com for a big picture of "Talky Tina" and all the creepy details.

Sarah Wayne Callies is breaking out of prison and into the realm of zombies, becoming the latest actor hired for AMC's highly anticipated adaptation of "The Walking Dead."
According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Prison Break" actress has landed the leading female role of Lori Grimes, the wife of series protagonist and small town police officer Rick (Andrew Lincoln). Boom Studios' line of comics based on The Muppets received some well-deserved recognition this year with an Eisner Award nomination, and the sensational, inspirational, celebrational fun will continue this year with even more Muppet adventures.
Along with a "Muppet Show" comic, the publisher's partnership with The Walt Disney Company has also yielded several great, Muppet-themed adaptations of famous literary classics, including Robin Hood, King Arthur, and most recently, Snow White. But they're not stopping there.
In a recent chat with the good folks at Disney, MTV News learned that the next adaptation planned for the line will be "Muppet Sherlock Holmes," and along with some details about the project itself, we also managed to get our hands on the first two covers for the series! Read more...

So, in case you aren't aware of it by now, I'm a big (okay, huge) fan of "Doctor Who," the BBC series that's one of the longest-running science-fiction programs in television history. As I've been doing every Friday during the new season, I'm rolling out another segment today from my recent interview with the program's stars, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.
This time around, the new "Doctor Who" duo discusses the hot-button issue of romance between The Doctor and his companion. As I mention in the interview, "Doctor Who" lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has indicated that such romance isn't a recent development in the series, but for the series' stars, it's not a "necessary" development, either.
"I don't think it's completely necessary," said Smith. "I don't think it's a prerequisite of the show." Read more...

Earlier this week, Robert Downey Jr. briefly weighed in on the relationship between Tony Stark and Pepper Potts in "Iron Man 2." While Downey was vague on details, he did state that their relationship would be "something shockingly different" than what has previously been portrayed within the "Iron Man" comics.
And while Downey didn't concede any ground on whether Stark and Potts would hook up romantically, his co-star Gwyneth Paltrow was a little bit more forthcoming when she recently spoke with MTV News.
"I think in the films, they definitely have that sort of soulmate-ish connection," related Paltrow. "But I think the fun of it is they never consummate [the relationship] and you always want them to." Read more...

By Odin's bushy beard, this news is so big, it deserves two exclamation points in the headline!!!
Yahoo Movies has the first image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor from the upcoming live-action movie directed by Kenneth Branagh. While the image is cropped in a unique way, it still gives us a great idea of how Hemsworth will look as Marvel's god of thunder.
There's a larger version of the image over at Yahoo, but what does the image tell us about the character's much-anticipated big-screen debut? Read more...
