We're only weeks away from "Iron Man 2" hitting theaters, but fans can get up close and personal with some of the armor, outfits and weapons that made the first film such a hit during this weekend's C2E2 convention in Chicago.
Hollywood auction site Propworx is kicking off a massive auction of props from Jon Favreau's 2008 blockbuster as the grand finale of the weekend's show, but CEO Alec Peters gave Splash Page a guided tour of some of the highlights.
Along with a pair of helmets (Mark I and Mark III) and the humongous upper torso of ol' shellhead's nemesis, Iron Monger, the auction will also include Pepper Potts' gala dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow, the Hugh Hefner robe worn by Stan Lee, and a host of other cool items big and small. Heck, they even have a light-up arc reactor.
"This is Robert Downey Jr.'s outfit when he's in the desert and the convoy gets ambushed," said Peters of the ragged suit that will be auctioned off as part of the "Iron Man" event. "It's dirty and it's got dust all over it, fake blood on it, holes in it. So do not send this to the dry cleaners. You want this exactly like it is. Something like this will probably go for $500-1000."
You can find out more about the auction (and place an online bid) at Propworx.com, where you can also check out the official auction catalog, which is a collector's item in itself — rather than just offering big projections and descriptions, it also includes in-depth interviews with the cast and crew of the film.
Keep an eye on Splash Page all weekend for more C2E2 news, and let us know what you think in the comment section or on Twitter!
