"The Losers" hits theaters today, bringing Andy Diggle and Jock's explosive comic book series to life via filmmaker Sylvain White.
Among its colorful cast of characters is the unpredictable Jensen, who serves as the team's intelligence specialist, computer hacker and, as actor Chris Evans notes, comic relief. In an interview with MTV News on the set of the film, Evans explained why the character was such a different role for him.
"He's just a fun guy, you know? He's kind of the comic relief," said Evans. "He loves life. He's a little nerdy. He's not very smooth."
"He's not only a fun character because of the energy you get to infuse it with, but who he is, it's kind of against type," he added. "I don't really get to play guys who are awkward and uncomfortable at times in certain situations, so it's fun to play him."
No stranger to playing comic book movie roles, Evans previously played Johnny Storm in the "Fantastic Four" films, and will soon play another Marvel hero, Captain America, in the solo film that will lead into 2012's superhero team-up film "The Avengers." While Evans acknowledged some unfamiliarity with many of the characters he's played (or will play soon), many fans have noted that his performance was one of the highlights of the "Fantastic Four" franchise.
"He's like the kid in the family," he said of Jensen.
"The Losers" hits theaters today, April 23.
