As "The Losers" are preparing to prove that they're actually winners this weekend, it's worth remembering that for some of the film's various players, this is not their first taste of the comic book world — far from it, in fact.
From throwing shields and flying on fire to chewing on cigars and fighting crime across the decades, many of the cast and crew on "The Losers" have already waded through comic book lore and are prepared to do it again.
After the jump, we've listed some of the past and future connections between the "Losers" team and comic book movies! Read more...

FROM MTV MOVIES: It isn't overstating things to say that Ridley Scott is among the greatest filmmakers of all time, and "Alien" is among the greatest films of all time. So how could anyone not be eager to learn every little detail about his prequel to the 1979 classic?
On Thursday (April 22), we caught up with the "Robin Hood" director to speak with him for next week's MTV Summer Movie Preview. And when he mentioned that he was feasting his eyes upon the latest "Untitled 'Alien' Prequel" script pages, we couldn't help but ask some questions.
What followed might be the most revealing interview Sir Ridley has given thus far on the top-secret project. Read on for exclusive details concerning the prequel's plot, creature design and the woman — not named Sigourney Weaver — who will soon be kicking alien ass.

"The Losers" blasts into theaters this weekend, and along with all the "Losers" clips and interviews with the cast, I also managed to score some time with the man bringing Andy Diggle and Jock's comic book series to life on the big screen: director Sylvain White.
Previously, White told Splash Page readers about some of his favorite scenes in the film and how closely he worked with the comic's creators to recreate the visual tone of the story. This time around, he explains which chapters from the long-running comic make up the film's plot, why he chose to reveal the villain early on (unlike in the comic), and his thoughts on potential sequels.
With the film going wide today (April 23), there's a lot to like about "The Losers," and White explained why he hopes audiences will make his "Losers" turn out to be winners at the box office. Read more...
Director M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" will be joining the ever-growing ranks of 3-D films scheduled to hit later this year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount is working with Stereo D — the company used by James Cameron for "Avatar" — on the 3-D conversion of "The Last Airbender," which will not be pushed back from its original release date.
Shyamalan was reportedly in favor of converting "The Last Airbender" to 3-D from the start, before finally convincing the studio to make the leap after 3-D tests were completed. "The Last Airbender" will be the first 3-D conversion released from Paramount. Read more...

Director Michel Gondry's adaptation of "The Green Hornet" is being pushed back from its original December 22 release date.
According to Deadline, the delay will allow the studio to convert the film into 3-D — though Sony is branding the changes as "3-D enhancements" that will be added once the visual effects are completed by Sony Imageworks.
While rumors have begun to swirl that the studio was unhappy with the tone of the film and Seth Rogen's performance as the Green Hornet, Sony Pictures Vice-Chairman Jeff Blake officially denied the reports. Read more...

"The Losers" hits theaters today, bringing Andy Diggle and Jock's explosive comic book series to life via filmmaker Sylvain White.
Among its colorful cast of characters is the unpredictable Jensen, who serves as the team's intelligence specialist, computer hacker and, as actor Chris Evans notes, comic relief. In an interview with MTV News on the set of the film, Evans explained why the character was such a different role for him.
"He's just a fun guy, you know? He's kind of the comic relief," said Evans. "He loves life. He's a little nerdy. He's not very smooth." Read more...

Almost a month ago, the Stark Expo 2010 website was launched as part of a viral promotion for "Iron Man 2."
And while the website has been creatively used to convey backstory about the film, director Jon Favreau has also used the Stark Expo as an opportunity to explore a major backdrop of his youth.
"With the Expo I got to revisit where I grew up, which was across the street from Flushing Meadows Park," said Favreau during an interview with The Los Angeles Times. "The whole Stark Expo is in Flushing Meadows Park, the old World's Fair fairgrounds. I grew up looking out my window at the remains of the 1964 World's Fair, and this was a way to represent that in our story. It's a love letter to Queens — and Queens doesn't get a lot of love." Today we have yet another clip from "The Losers," which premieres this weekend.
Based on Andy Diggle and Jock's action-packed comic book series, director Sylvain White's adaptation stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short and Óscar Jaenada as a framed, left-for-dead special ops team out to clear their names. Zoe Saldana plays the mysterious and lethal Aisha, who joins them in their mission.
Today's clip features a scene in which the team hijacks a helicopter using the skills of loudmouth hacker Jensen (Evans) and their silent-but-deadly sniper, Cougar (Jaenada).

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has two reasons to celebrate this week. For one, "The Losers" comes out tomorrow. For another, it's his birthday today!
In the past couple of years, Morgan has established himself pretty firmly with the comic book crowd thanks to his praised turn as The Comedian in "Watchmen" and his upcoming role as Clay, the leader of the Losers. But with the Sylvain White-directed action movie set to hit theaters in just a few short hours, Morgan is once again left without a current comic book role.
In honor of the terrific actor's birthday and his forthcoming movie premiere, we've listed five other comic book roles that Morgan could play with ease. Read more...

A new clip from "Iron Man 2" has hit the 'Net, featuring Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) getting ambushed at a party by Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).
Posted over at MSN, the clip also includes a return appearance by Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb), the reporter who Tony had a fling with in the first film. In the scene, Pepper makes none-too-subtle reference to Tony's history with Everhart, who's now doing a profile of Hammer for Vanity Fair.
Also of note in the clip (which isn't embeddable — boo to you, MSN!) is Hammer's mention of Pepper becoming the new CEO of Stark Industries. The plot thickens, eh?
