Back in February, word broke that a "Young Justice" animated series was in the works when Stephanie Lemelin revealed that she had been cast as Arrowette. And while the young actress subsequently removed the post from her website, the official confirmation has finally been made.
Earlier today at Cartoon Network's Upfront presentation in New York, it was announced that the new "Young Justice" animated series will debut on Cartoon Network during the 2010 - 2011 season.
The series will focus on Robin, Superboy, Artemis, Kid Flash, Miss Martian and Aqualad as they attempt to prove that they have what it takes to become the next generation of the Justice League. Sam Register ("Batman: The Brave and the Bold") is the executive producer with Greg Weisman ("The Spectacular Spider-Man") and Brandon Vietti ("The Batman") on board as producers. Read more...

While much of my conversation last week with iconic comics writer Grant Morrison was focused on his revolutionary approach to DC's "Batman & Robin" series (if you aren't reading it, you should be), I also managed to get an update on a few other projects he's been involved with over the years — including plans for a movie based on his 2004 miniseries "We3."
The three-issue story followed a trio of animals who are made into weapons by the government but manage to escape captivity. Armed with deadly robotic implants, encased in armor and given limited ability to speak, the animals must outrun the military and overcome various other threats to their newfound freedom.
"Kung-Fu Panda" director John Stevenson had been attached to an adaptation of the series back in December 2008 (featuring a script by Morrison), but there's been little word from the "We3" camp since that time. According to the comic's creator, the lack of movement on the project is a bit frustrating, given the high regard critics and fans alike have for the story. Read more...

The upcoming "Stretch Armstrong" movie has snared a writer and a director.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Rob Letterman has been signed to direct "Stretch Armstrong." Letterman has previously co-directed "Shark Tale" and "Monsters vs. Aliens" for Dreamworks Animation. His first live-action film is “Gulliver’s Travels,” a comedy starring Jack Black that will be released later this year. Additionally, Nick Stoller — the director of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" — has also been signed to rewrite Steve Oedekerk's original screenplay.
The "Stretch Armstrong" film picked up momentum earlier this year when "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner was cast in the title role. Lautner also left an adaptation of Mattel's "Max Steel" to focus on "Stretch Armstrong." Read more...

Back in February, director Stephen Norrington revealed that "The Crow" may begin shooting this summer. And while news on the project has been relatively quiet since then, word has emerged that "The Crow" could be filmed in Detroit, too.
"Part of the new story is set in Detroit and we've been discussing the logistics of shooting on location," Norrington told Mania.com. The original "Crow" comic was created by Michigan native James O'Barr who set his first storyline in Detroit.
Alex Proyas' adaptation of "The Crow" also took place in Detroit during the backdrop of Devil's Night — an annual Detroit tradition in which abandoned and derelict houses are burned. Read more...

Don Cheadle's upcoming turn as Jim Rhodes (aka War Machine) is one of the most anticipated parts of "Iron Man 2."
In the first "Iron Man," it was heavily hinted that Rhodes would don the comics-inspired armor. According to director Jon Favreau, bringing in the War Machine suit was a natural progression for his character in the sequel.
"The conversation was 'How do you expand what's there, how do you make the sequel bigger and better?' and one is way is, in essence, doubling up on Iron Man," Favreau told The Los Angeles Times. "War Machine let's you do that." Read more...

The face of S.H.I.E.L.D. chief Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson first made his presence known in the Marvel movie universe back in 2008's "Iron Man." While his appearance in other upcoming Marvel movies outside "Iron Man 2" is still in question, fans have been assured of one thing: he'll have a more notable part to play in the superhero team-up film "The Avengers."
When MTV News caught up with Jackson at the press junket for "Mother and Child," he spoek to the recent news that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon was in talks to direct "Avengers," as well as "Fantastic Four" actor Chris Evans landing the role of Captain America (who will be one of the heroes featured in "Avengers," of course).
"[Evans is the] right guy," said Jackson. "Not a problem. They seem to be making great steps in the right direction to make all these films happen in the right way. So I'm loking forward to going to London and meeting Captain America." Read more...

One of the many creators I had a chance to chat with during last weekend's C2E2 convention in Chicago was comic creator and film producer Michael Uslan, executive producer on just about every Batman project to ever hit the big (or small) screen — including 2008's record-breaking blockbuster "The Dark Knight."
While Uslan said he had "nothing to share" regarding regarding the much-anticipated third film in director Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise, he did offer up some thoughts on the news that Nolan will shepherd a reboot of the Superman movie universe. Comparing Superman's big-screen future to the second film in the "Star Trek" franchise (considered a vast improvement on its predecessor), Uslan said he has high hopes for the filmmaker's take on the Man of Steel.
"I think there are great things happening in the DC universe," said Uslan when asked about Nolan taking over the Superman movies. Read more...

Now that "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" is official, comics readers and creators alike have wishlists for what they want to see in the game. Writers Dan Slott and David Gallaher are obviously among them, judging from this morning's Twitter Report feed.
Back in the world of movies, "Kick-Ass" continues to draw some strong reactions. Check out what Mike Norton thought after the jump, along with who snagged a ticket to a "Losers" screening and what A Jeff Lemire Blue Beetle looks like.
It's all there with some Jim Lee artwork below in the Twitter report for April 20th, 2010. Read more...

Whether it's C2E2 in Chicago or Comic-Con International in San Diego, two things that are constants at every big comic book show are costumes and cool merch — and last weekend's first-ever Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo (hence the "C2E2") was no exception.
In between one-on-one interviews with the likes of Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, award-winning author Neil Gaiman, "The Dark Knight" producer Michael Uslan, and various other well-known creators of comics, television and film, I also managed to snap a few photos from the convention floor. I've selected some of my favorites from the bunch for a handy little gallery.

Were you at the show? See anything cool? Let us know in the comment section or on Twitter!
