Earlier this year, Peter Sarsgaard was cast as Hector Hammond in "Green Lantern," giving fans a clear idea of who the villain will be when actor Ryan Reynolds finally makes his big-screen debut as Hal Jordan.
Now we have our first look at Sarsgaard as the telepathic villain, courtesy of Sky Showbiz. It's not the most attractive photo, sure — but it looks as if the film will stay true to the source material and give Hammond the bulging brain of his comics counterpart.
First appearing in a 1961 issue of "Green Lantern," Hammond is described in casting reports as "the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father's eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor."
The full image of Sarsgaard as Hammond is available over at Sky Showbiz, but just in case you're not familiar with Dr. Hector Hammond, here's the inspiration for Sarsgaard's character:

"Green Lantern" is currently scheduled to hit theaters June 11, 2011.
