Episode Title: "The Vampires Of Venice"
Written By: Toby Whithouse
Story: The Doctor and Amy Pond are joined by Amy's fiance, Rory, on what's intended to be a romantic trip to Venice in the year 1580. As with any adventure with The Doctor, all is not as it seems, and the trio soon find themselves investigating a series of murders in which the victims' bodies are drained of fluids, and clues that lead to the mysterious House of Calvierri.
Why don't the Calvierri girls have a reflection? And what lurks in the canals of Venice? Read more...

Back in February, word began to spread that "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon and Morgan Spurlock were joining forces to create a documentary about the San Diego Comic-Con International. And apparently, they won't be alone.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon and Spurlock will produce "Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan's Hope" along with legendary comic book creator Stan Lee and Ain't it Cool News founder Harry Knowles. Thomas Tull and Jeremy Chilnick are also on board as producers.
The film reportedly follows seven fans from around the world as they prepare to attend this year's Comic-Con. It is currently scheduled to begin shooting in June and will also be filmed in San Diego during the annual fest. Read more...

[EDITOR'S NOTE: I exhausted the final segment from my interview with "Doctor Who" stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan last week, but I'm going to continue featuring new "Who" content here every Friday due to the great response the clips received. This time around, it's an interview with "Doctor Who" comic book writer Tony Lee about his final story arc featuring David Tennant as The Doctor.]
While television audiences bid farewell to former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant late last year, his tenure as The Tenth Doctor has continued in comics form via IDW Publishing's ongoing "Doctor Who" series. All that comes to an end, however, in a four-issue story arc that kicks off this July.
"Final Sacrifice" kicks off with issue #13 of IDW's popular "Doctor Who" comics, and promises to bring an end to both Tennant's time as The Doctor and the current series. While there's still some uncertainty about the form IDW's "Doctor Who" comics will take after this final adventure, it's been confirmed that the time- and space-traveling British hero will return in the likeness of new lead actor Matt Smith when things get rolling again in 2011.
I spoke to series writer Tony Lee to get some insight into "Final Sacrifice" and how it relates to Tennant's final episodes in the television series, as well as his thoughts on bidding adieu to The Tenth Doctor. Read more...

"Lost" ends its critically acclaimed run this Sunday night, but that doesn't mean the saga is over forever, right? While it could take some time (see: eternity) for further adventures of Jack Shephard, James "Sawyer" Ford and the other survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 to transpire, there's still an endless amount of stories to tell with the characters and settings we've grown to love over the last six years.
I wouldn't advocate for a continuation of "Lost" in television form, but as a comic book? Well, that's a different matter altogether!
From further exploration of the DHARMA Initiative to the story of the Others, here are some possible "Lost" stories that could work quite well in comic book form. Read more...

This week's installment of Weekend Reading is going international, with a look at four books from Top Shelf Productions' "Swedish Invasion" line.
Launched just last month, the four books were originally published in Sweden but now arrive here in the U.S. fully translated and featuring an eclectic mix of stories by creators who might not be well-known commodities here, but have earned a big following in their homeland and the surrounding regions.
From a rapper's quest to sleep, smoke and crash his way across the country to a trippy adventure with naked, hairy forest-dwellers, the Swedish Invasion has begun. Read more...

The Twitter Report feed is capable inducing great smiles at times — especially when Edgar Wright gets frank with "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" details. Today he talked soundtrack size, and it sounds like we could be seeing a double disc set.
Some people have been smiling about the newly unveiled mascots for London's 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. Their names are Wenlock and Mandeville, and Simon Spurrier thinks they could be at home in the Transformers universe. By the way, speaking of the Transformers universe, you probably heard the report that Megan Fox is out of "Transformers 3." This does not surprise Frank Tieri. You can find out what does and does not surprise you below.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for May 20, 2010. Read more...

Back in January, "Gossip Girl" star Blake Lively signed on to appear as Carol Ferris opposite Ryan Reynolds in director Martin Campbell's highly anticipated "Green Lantern" adaptation.
And while it's currently unknown if Ferris will transform into her villainous alter-ego Star Sapphire during the movie, Lively has recently revealed that she participated in some of the wire stunts for the film.
"Our director likes it real — the fights close and dirty," said Lively during an interview with Vogue. Lively also explained that the aerial stunts were filmed in a rig originally created for "The Matrix." Read more...

Earlier this week, the CW network announced that the upcoming tenth season of "Smallville" will also be its last.
And while there have been hints that the tenth season may focus on Darkseid as the main villain, "Smallville" star Tom Welling told MTV News which character he would like to see Clark Kent take on in the final season.
"I want to see Lex [Luthor]," said Welling. "I want to see him come back. In the show, he's still alive. He's just not around. But I want to see Michael [Rosenbaum] and I want to see Lex Luthor. I want to know how that relationship really turns out. Because that's the big relationship that I believe propelled Clark to become Superman." Read more...

The island in "Lost" may have been a hazardous place for anyone who has washed ashore during the show's six-season run on ABC, but such locales are a part of everyday life in comics.
For every developed county with a system of laws, there are handful of remote islands populated by prehistoric beasts or mad scientists in the comic book world. With "Lost" wrapping up its long run on television this weekend, we decided to comb through our comics for a few locales with fatality rates comparable to (or worse than) any DHARMA-approved land.

Director Edgar Wright's attachment to "Ant-Man" goes back quite a ways, but the movie isn't scheduled to hit until after "The Avengers" in 2012. Still, that's not to say that Hank Pym won't show up before his solo movie debut — in fact, there's a very good chance he'll show up right alongside Iron Man, Captain America and Thor in Marvel Studios' major team-up.
After the jump, we've compiled some of our favorite candidates to take on the role of Hank Pym, the size-changing scientific superhero better known as Ant-Man! Read more...
