Aside from online message boards and chat rooms, no one seems to want to talk about "The Avengers" these days (on the record, that is). While part of this is likely due to legality issues and punishment-of-death mandates from Marvel Studios, the other aspect is that it’s probably too soon for anyone to know anything — save rumored director Joss Whedon himself.
Nevertheless, MTV News continued our search for new information when we recently spoke to “Incredible Hulk” star Edward Norton about his new charitable fundraising portal, Crowdrise.com.
Norton said he hadn't seen “Iron Man 2” yet, but planned to “check it out” as soon as he found time and could get a ticket. He also added that he hasn't yet met or conversed with Whedon, but was kind enough to inquire about our thoughts on a Whedon-penned "Avengers." (We deferred to the fan community’s undying love for Whedon properties). Read more...

The secrecy of director Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of "Thor" has been so great, that even though filming is currently winding down, only a single shot of Chris Hemsworth in his Thor costume has emerged online.
And while Thor's outfit appears to be taken directly from the recent "Thor" run by J. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Coipel, the costume was extremely uncomfortable, according to Hemsworth.
"I put the [costume] on and said 'It’s not very comfortable, but it looks amazing, so it’s all good.'" during an interview with Superhero Hype. "And then a couple of weeks in, I thought 'It’s getting more and more uncomfortable,' and at the end of three, four months it was a pretty difficult thing to wake up and put on every morning. But it’s sells such an image in the picture. It does a lot of the work for you." Read more...

At the beginning of last year, Samuel L. Jackson signed a long term deal with Marvel Studios to portray Nick Fury in as many as nine films. And after Fury's appearance in "Iron Man 2," Jackson is already set to reprise his role in "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers."
However, at the time there was also speculation that Jackson would star in a film based directly around Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., which Jackson seemed to confirm recently.
During an appearance on Radio Big Boy (via Cinema Blend). Jackson said
“'The Avengers' should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there’ll be a big 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' movie.” Read more...

THE STORY: "Bizarre New World" by Skipper Martin (W), Christopher Provencher (A) and Wes Dzioba (C) - Ape Entertainment
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Meet Paul Krutcher, an ordinary guy who works as a film editor. He's also a divorced father devoted to his son... and the world's first flying man. Krutcher quickly embraces his newfound ability and uses it to greatly improve his life until the world discovers the "first flying man" and it isn't him...
WHY IT WORKS: Martin crafts an incredibly relatable and engaging story about a protagonist who is refreshingly ordinary. Krutcher doesn't use his gift to fight crime or as an excuse to make himself into a costumed hero; he uses it to have fun. At the same time, his paranoia of being discovered is quite humorous. Krutcher's relationship with his young son is also very believable and warm, which adds a welcome human touch to the story. At three issues, the series moves along at a brisk pace and is never boring. Read more...

For the moviegoers who have seen "Iron Man 2," Tony Stark's latest battle against Whiplash and Justin Hammer is at an end. That means the Armored Avenger must look ahead towards the next fight, and luckily for us, we already have an idea of who he's going to square up against in a potential third installment — The Mandarin.
Speaking with MTV News, "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau revealed that "you have to do The Mandarin" for a third film, though he acknowledged some difficulties with the character: "He also has 10 magical rings, and it just doesn't feel right for our thing, so it's either tech-based or the rings are not really rings ... but maybe with 'Thor' and all those others you'll introduce magic to that world and it won't seem so out of place."
I certainly don't think The Mandarin is out of place when gods and super soldiers are running about in Tony's neck of the woods. Assuming that Favreau can find a way to make the ring-clad villain work in his cinematic universe, here are a few actors that could pull off the role! Read more...

Earlier this week we got our first look at Peter Sarsgaard in costume on the set of "Green Lantern," but what about the film's star, Ryan Reynolds? We know he won't recite the Green Lantern oath for us, but what everyone's really wondering is what he'll look like when he suits up as Hal Jordan.
Well, we're psyched to say we've got a pic from the set of "Green Lantern" that, while it doesn't show Reynolds in full-on costume, it does provide an indication of how that costume will be created for the big screen — and some confirmation of rumors we've heard previously.
In the following photo provided to MTV News, Reynolds is seen zipping up a full motion-capture suit on the set of "Green Lantern," indicating some heavy CGI could indeed be used to bring the DC hero's emerald-hued costume to life. Read more...

Back in April, we first brought you the news that HBO's hit series "True Blood" was getting its very own comic book, courtesy of IDW Publishing.
Well, even though we still have a month to wait for the third season of "True Blood" to kick off, Sookie Stackhouse, Bill Compton, and the rest of the sexy, supernatural cast appear in today's six-page preview of the comic book's first issue.
Featuring a plot by "True Blood" creator Alan Ball, series writers Elisabeth Finch and Kate Barnow, and co-written by David Tischman and Mariah Huehner, the six-issue "True Blood" miniseries will supposedly coexist with the televisions series' continuity while presenting new, original stories. Interior art will be provided by David Messina, who will also provide cover art along with J. Scott Campbell. Read more...

Geoff Johns has been careful recently not to reveal to much about DC's movie plans. Nevertheless, Johns' official word on his goal for a "Flash" movie is "SOON."
Meanwhile, Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" actually does exist right now, and it's been stirring up some reactions this week. Ben Templesmith and Chris Ryall both weighed in via tweets, and they appear to share some apprehension. Find out what they're worried about after the jump. There, you'll also see a Superman sighting from the Marvel offices, a NASCAR observation and a biographical note from Todd McFarlane.
It's all covered in the Twitter Report for May 13, 2010. Read more...

It looks like NBC might do the one thing Sylar never could: eliminate the "Heroes."
According to New York Magazine there are indications that "Heroes" will not be brought back for a fifth season. While there have been rumors that "Heroes" would return with 13 new episodes to wrap up the series, the latest report indicates that NBC is very happy with their upcoming programming slate and notes that the network has already placed orders for five new series in the fall.
However, the report also indicates that "Heroes" might return as a two or four-hour movie to give the fans of the series some closure. Although it also mentions that NBC has yet to bring up this possibility to "Heroes" creator Tim Kring. Read more...
