The first "Red" trailer for the film based on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's comic of the same name is out on the Internet and starting discussions. Both of the book's creators offered commentary via Twitter, as did a few of their colleagues.
Elsewhere, some post-Avengers retreat assessments continued to trickle in over the last 24 hours, and I've got Ed Brubaker and Christos Gage's thoughts retweeted below. The recap for today also lets you in on who had to negotiate work time with Wimbledon watching, how awesome it looks when Whilce Portacio draws Chewbacca and who Olivia Wilde deems worthy of the distinction "bad ass" on the "Cowboys and Aliens" set.
My name is @brianwarmoth, and I made a comics-related mix tape of tweets for you in the Twitter Report for June 24, 2010.
@Christosgage Avengers retreat over. Went great. Everyone liked my Tigra story so it'll be appearing sooner than planned...and they made it 10x better!
-Christos Gage, Writer ("Union Jack," "Absolution")
@brubaker Biggest thing I realized at Marvel retreat is I miss having an editor that calls me 'bro' all the time.
-Ed Brubaker, Writer ("Captain America," "Incognito")
"Red" pt. 2: @pauljholden I haven't read RED so I've no idea how far the movie diverts from the comic - but the movie looks like a lot of fun.
-P.J. Holden, Artist ("Judge Dredd," "The 86ers")
"Red" pt. 3: @cully_hamner Like I just said to Warren, it's different than our book, for sure... but you can't tell me that it doesn't look like a lot of fFUN.
-Cully Hamner, Artist ("Red," "Blue Beetle")
"Red" pt. 4: @warrenellis @Koutchboom You're right, RED and BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS look exactly the same
-Warren Ellis, Writer ("Planetary," "Transmetropolitan")
@marcbernardin stupid tennis...ruining my productivity. BUT IT'S 62-61 IN THE FIFTH!
-Marc Bernardin, Writer ("The Authority," "The Highwaymen")
@oliviawilde Another fun night on Cowboys&Aliens. All I can tell you is that Keith Carradine is a bad ass and I love explosions.
-Olivia Wilde, Actress ("Cowboys and Aliens")
@KevinColden DC did a bang up job on their app launch. Kudos for finally getting @zudacomics
-Kevin Colden, Writer/Artist ("I Rule the Night," "Fishtown")
@D_MacPherson Knowing Disney, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nic Cage as Dr. Strange. Or Jackie Chan. Or Johnny Depp. #fakerumors
-Dwight MacPherson, Writer ("Sidewise," "The Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo")
@neilkleid I wish Bieber Fever was referenced with the same dread as SARS. "What's with Jim?" "Oh, he...he's got Bieber Fever." "Shit...poor JIM..."
-Neil Kleid, Writer ("Ursa Minors," "Action, Ohio")
Parting Wisdom for the Day:
@KodyChamberlain Dear lady driving with a McBiscuit and cigarette, do you really need a cigarette that bad? Can't wait till you're done with the biscuit?
-Kody Chamberlain, Artist ("Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu," "Punks")
