According to Deadline, Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek"), Aaron Johnson ("Kick-Ass"), and Logan Lerman ("Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief") recently completed screentests for Peter Parker; in addition to previously announced finalists Jamie Bell ("The Eagle of the Ninth"), Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network") and Alden Ehrenreich ("Tetro").

Octopus Pie"Octopus Pie: There Are No Stars In Brooklyn" hit shelves this week, bringing writer/artist Meredith Gran's celebrated webcomic to the print world.

And though the arrival of "Octopus Pie" on shelves is big news on its own, this seems like a good time to bring your attention to a few other print collections of webcomics that you might want to check out, too.

Each of the three books I highlight here manages to offer something new to fans of the series online, while also giving first-time readers a great standalone story. Rather than serve as an excerpt or teaser for the ongoing comics each collection is culled from, the books offer full stories unfolding in their respective comics' universes and great examples of why each series continues to be so popular among fans. But that's not all the network posted, as a new shot of one of the shuffling, shambling creatures populating the series' post-apocalyptic world also found its way online.

Michael FassbenderNear the beginning of the month, rumors began to fly that Michael Fassbender was a leading contender to appear in "X-Men: First Class" or the "Spider-Man" reboot. And while Fassbender was later confirmed to be in talks to portray Magneto in "X-Men: First Class," there has been no official news since.

However, Fassbender is now rumored to have officially accepted the role of Magneto, according to Showbiz411 (which was the source of the original rumor linking Fassbender to "First Class"). If confirmed, Fassbender will appear opposite James McAvoy as Professor Xavier and Benjamin Walker as the Beast.

Fassbender's most recent role was in "Jonah Hex," which was released in theaters last week. He has also previously appeared in "300," "Inglourious Bastards" and "Band of Brothers." Read more...

With Comic-Con International just around the corner, it shouldn't be long before fans get some new official information regarding "The Avengers," the superhero team-up flick featuring the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. But there are other heroes said to be involved from Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye to the repeated rumors of Nathan Fillion as Hank Pym.

Another Avenger to consider is Janet Van Dyne, the shrinking scientist superhero best known to fans as The Wasp. With few females on the Avengers roster aside from Black Widow, it's a virtual certainty that Wasp will buzz onto the scene when the film hits theaters in 2012 — the only question is, who's going to play her?

After the jump, we've listed a few of the candidates we'd like to see take a sting at Wasp when "The Avengers" assemble on the big screen! Read more...
