Donald GloverIt was the question that had the comics world — and the rest of the InterWebs, for that matter — buzzing with debate: Is "Community" actor Donald Glover the right guy to play Peter Parker in the next "Spider-Man" movie?

Originally suggested in the comment section of a post on io9 titled "The last thing Spider-Man should be is another white guy," Glover's aptitude for the role had fans, creators, and just about everyone else taking sides. We reached out to a notable comic book historian for some perspective on the issue, and even received an unexpected call from Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee to get his take on it.

And while Glover has offered the occasional thought and thanks for all the attention on his Twitter feed, MTV News spoke to the actor to get the full story on how he feels about the campaign to make him the next webslinger. Read More...

Ultimate Spider-ManBack in April, Marvel announced that a new "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated series — inspired by the comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis — was heading to Disney XD next year. While there is still no word on casting, at least one of the directors has been named.

According to Mania.com, Alex Soto has signed on to direct "Ultimate Spider-Man." Soto has previously directed several episodes of the animated "Teen Titans" as well as "Ben Ten." He has also drawn storyboards for the upcoming "Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness" animated series.

However, the report doesn't state whether Soto will also be a showrunner on the new series, as animation veteran Greg Weisman was for "Spectacular Spider-Man" — an animated series that was apparently one of the early victims of the Disney/Marvel deal. Read More...

Walton GogginsEarlier this month, director Jon Favreau's "Cowboys & Aliens" finally began principal photography. And apparently, the film has also picked up a new cast member.

Walton Goggins has signed on to appear in "Cowboys & Aliens," according to Deadline. However the report doesn't specify which character Goggins will portray within the film.

Goggins is perhaps best known for his role as Shane Vendrell on "The Shield" and his more recent turn as Boyd Crowder on "Justified." Goggins has previously appeared in "CSI," "The Bourne Identity" and "Criminal Minds" in addition to the upcoming "Predators" film. Goggins is also attached to star in a new remake of "Straw Dogs." Seth Rogen isn't exactly the likeliest candidate to star in a comic book movie. Sure, he's enjoyed a great deal of critical and commercial success in the past several years for his comedy work... but an action movie? It's something of a stretch, to say the least. Regardless, Rogen is rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty with an action star role in "The Green Hornet" — and while he might be the latest, Rogen is hardly the first unlikely actor to find himself in a comic book or superhero movie.

A massive batch of new images from M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" have arrived online, including some new shots of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Prince Zuko and, yes... even Appa the Sky Bison. Heck, Shyamalan himself makes an appearance in a few of the shots.

We've added almost 30 new images to our "The Last Airbender" gallery, but here's one of my favorites:

IronE SingletoWith the first episode of "The Walking Dead" almost finished shooting, several reports have identified additional actors involved in the project.

According to I Am Entertainment Magazine, Robert "IronE" Singleton (pictured) has signed on to portray one of the survivors of the Zombie Apocalypse. Dread Central also indicates that Singleton will portray a new character called T-Dog. Singleton has previously appeared in "The Blind Side" and the upcoming feature “The Hungry Rabbit Jumps” opposite Nicolas Cage and Guy Pearce.

Variety is reporting that Emma Bell ("Frozen") has also joined the cast as a college student among the survivors. Thus far, speculation on her role has centered on her resemblance to Amy, the sister of Laurie Holden's character, Andrea. Read More...

Jonah HexNow that the Michel Gondry's "Green Hornet" trailer is out in the open, the comics world is reacting, and I've included a quick sampling with opinions from Cully Hamner, Jeff Parker and the ever-quotable Brian Denham in the Report today.

While they were checking out Seth Rogen and Jay Chou, however, a few other faces in the crowd were watching SyFy's new "Phantom" re-imagining and "The Pixar Story" on CNBC. Click on past the jump to find out what everyone thought and see Fred Van Lente's Hercules casting recommendation, as well as what Bendis got away with this morning during the Avengers retreat.

ConanA new official photo featuring Jason Momoa as Conan has been released from director Marcus Nispel's upcoming adaptation of Robert E. Howard's classic barbarian hero.

After years in development, the long-awaited "Conan" reboot picked up steam a year ago when Nispel came on board to helm the film. Momoa and "Twilight" star Kellan Lutz were finalists for the role, which ultimately went to Momoa.

Momoa is perhaps best known for his role as Ronon Dex on "Stargate Atlantis" and his upcoming turn as Khal Drogo in the HBO's "Game of Thrones." While some fans initially criticized Momoa's casting, the newly released picture from Nu Boyana Studios seems to capture the spirit of "Conan" better than the previously seen, unofficial photos that popped up online. Megan FoxNow that "Jonah Hex" is behind her and the "Fathom" adaptation lies on the road ahead of her, actress Megan Fox has revealed that there's another comic book movie role she would like to put her stamp on — Rainmaker from "Gen 13."

The former "Transformers" actress revealed her intentions while on the red carpet for the world premiere of "Jonah Hex," telling Fox 411: "I don't want people to protest this, but I would like to be [Sarah] Rainmaker in 'Gen 13' if they ever made that into a movie." Read More...
