Green HornetIn case you missed it, the first official trailer for director Michel Gondry's "The Green Hornet" has premiered online with all the violence you would hope for from such an action-centric movie, not to mention the comedy we've come to expect from Seth Rogen.

Rogen and Gondry screened the trailer in Hollywood last evening and fielded questions from a group of journalists, including some of the SuperHeroHype crew. Rogen described the story of "Green Hornet" as a tale of friendship between his character, Britt Reid, and Jay Chou's Kato.

"I'm an irresponsible kind of idiot (as one might imagine) and my father dies and I form a friendship with someone else who did not have the highest opinion towards him. One of his employees, Kato," said Rogen. "Through that friendship, we realize that maybe we can create this kind of thing that will help us both live out our dreams. In time, we realize that each other's personalities are the most difficult thing to overcome and try to form this thing." Read more...

Dr. StrangeThe Master of the Mystic Arts is making a play at becoming the Master of the Movie Theater.

Marvel Studios has hired "Conan" screenwriters Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to tackle the screenplay for "Doctor Strange," according to Deadline. In addition to Conan, Donnelly and Oppenheimer wrote a draft of "Cowboys & Aliens" before the final version was crafted by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof. They've also written a live-action adaptation of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for Sony.

"Doctor Strange" tells the tale of Stephen Strange, a brilliant but overconfident surgeon who loses the all-important steadiness in his hands through a terrible car accident. The Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum and kidnapped a young boy and his parents. Batman immediately goes to work on the case leaving no stone unturned, questioning fellow inmates and informants on the street. Will Batman find the family in time or will the boy wind up an orphan like Batman himself?

Sounds like the beginnings of a great plot for the next Christopher Nolan Batman film, right? Actually, it’s the premise of a new fan-film released over the weekend called “City of Scars.”

Fan-films have never been easier to create now that everyone has access to some type of video camera (even if it’s their cell phone) and a place to upload it. Shot with high-definition cameras and a budget of just over $27,000, “City of Scars” is obviously not your average fan-film. In fact, you could say it’s something Robin would have made with his weekly allowance. Read more...

The Last AirbenderA bunch of new trailers and television ads for "The Last Airbender" have been airing recently, especially during World Cup coverage. While the preview footage has been peppered with new material, one particular TV spot has included a very special debut for fans of the hit animated series: the first appearance of Momo, Aang's flying lemur pal.

Previous trailers gave us a peek at Appa, Aang's sky bison, and since we've now seen quite a bit of the big guy in subsequent footage, it's only fitting that Momo finally gets his due. In the original animated series, Aang first encounters Momo when he goes searching for the rest of his Airbender tribe at their mountaintop refuge.

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, "The Last Airbender" hits theaters July 1. Read more...

The Walking DeadRobert Kirkman can sum up his experience watching "The Walking Dead" come to life as a television series in two words: "surreal" and "amazing."

The "Walking Dead" creator and series executive producer spoke with AMC from the set of the upcoming comic book adaptation, which has already begun shooting its pilot episode. Kirkman said that not only does the "Walking Dead" show feature scenes "straight out of" the comic book, it also improves on the source material in many ways.

"There are things here and there that along the way I should have caught, but didn't," he said. "There's some amazing stuff [Frank Darabont] added for Morgan's character in the Pilot episode that's just not in the comic. It was back story, but he handles it in a way that just really brings it to the forefront. It's like, Morgan, that guy is an awesome character!" Read more...

Sam and Twitch"Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane has made no secret of his desire to bring his long-running comic back to the big screen. However, he may have other ambitions for "Sam & Twitch," a pair of police detectives who were originally supporting characters in "Spawn."

During a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, McFarlane indicated that he and "a big time producer" are in the process of of developing a "Sam & Twitch" TV series. "It would be an hour-long drama with a little bit of the mystique stuff in it," said McFarlane. "At times, we've gone in and pitched it as sort of 'Hill Street Blues' meets 'The X-Files' without it being that crazy and that obvious."

"It's not that kind of stuff," continued McFarlane. "It's the stuff where you go, 'The room was locked and the windows were locked and everything was locked from the outside. Somebody couldn't get out, but we found a dead body on the 21st floor and the autopsy says that they drowned to death, and by the way, it's salt water. What the hell does that mean?" Read more...

Marvel SuperheroesWhile Marvel's upcoming film slate is loaded with the new "Spider-Man" reboot, "X-Men: First Class" as well as Marvel Studios' "Thor," "Captain America" and "The Avengers;" some of Marvel's secondary characters may also get their shot at cinematic stardom.

According to Latino Review, Marvel is rumored to be considering properties like "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther" and "Luke Cage" for 10-minute short films that would introduce the characters to moviegoers without taking the financial risk of a full-length feature.

Although the anonymous rumor is unconfirmed and entirely unofficial at this point, it does seem like a logical step for the company. Various other unconfirmed reports have circulated this year indicating that Marvel Studios was potentially planning smaller budget films based on "Ka-Zar," "Dazzler" and "Power Pack" as well as the previously mentioned "Dr. Strange" and "Luke Cage."
