Last we heard from director Edgar Wright, he was planning a return to work on the "Ant-Man" movie once all of the madness surrounding "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" had died down a bit. However, that doesn't mean he isn't taking meetings about the size-changing Marvel hero — including discussions with unconfirmed-but-likely "Avengers" director Joss Whedon.
In fact, Wright told MTV News on the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards that he and Whedon not only discussed their respective Marvel projects, they also became friends... with benefits!
"I did, I did," said Wright when asked if he had indeed met with Whedon. "We actually met at Marvel. I was having a meeting and then he was having the next meeting. We met and then we got together for a drink after that." Read more...

We already know what Thor, Odin and Sif will look like in director Kenneth Branagh's currently shooting adaptation of "Thor," but what about the Warriors Three?
An Ain't It Cool News source dubbed "Industry Killer" claims to have seen the costume designs for Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg. While his knowledge shouldn't be taken as gospel, the source's previous description of Thor's costume turned out to be quite accurate given recent concept sketches and official set photos.
"The costumes are fairly complex and detailed," wrote the commenter. "[They're] a little less traditional to their individual backgrounds than the comic. The motif of [all the Asgardian] suits aren't going for any kind of ACTUAL viking realism but is very skewed into the realm of the comic book world it represents, almost sort of futuristic with an old world Norse flair." "X-Men: First Class" producer Bryan Singer is offering fans a chance to visit the set of his upcoming film that takes the Marvel mutants back to their early days.
Posted on CharityBuzz, the auction will give its winner the opportunity to tour the U.K. set of "First Class" later this year as a guest of Singer. The auction benefits Project Angel Food, which prepares and delivers food to people with life-threatening illnesses around Los Angeles, and the current bid sits at $2,250.
It's worth noting that the description of the film included in the auction might offer a little more insight about the plot. According to the auction text, the film explores a time when Xavier and Erik Lensherr were "working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known." Episode Title: "The Hungry Earth" & "Cold Blood"
Written By: Chris Chibnall
Story: This two-part story sees the return of the reptilian Silurians to the "Doctor Who" universe as The Doctor, Amy, and Rory investigate some mysterious disturbances in a Welsh village. A mining operation has disturbed something big underground, and when the Silurians make contact with humanity for the first time in many years, the fate of the planet depends on a small delegation hand-picked by The Doctor — and keeping everyone (human and Silurian) alive long enough to reach an agreement. In the first "Jonah Hex" trailer, there's one particular item that should give fans a pretty clear sense of whether or not this comic book adaptation is something they'll find interest in. I'm speaking, of course, about the horse-mounted gatling gun, one of the most absurd pieces of weaponry seen on film in the past several years. It's not a concept that everybody can get behind — but it's certainly one that lead actor Josh Brolin was very amused by!
"The gatling gun, man," the actor laughed when MTV News asked him to recount his favorite and most absurd weapons featured in "Jonah Hex." "It's not funny to anybody else, but it's always funny to me." Read more...

The role of Peter Parker in the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot has yet to be cast, and "Red Dawn" actor Josh Hutcherson says that he's a candidate for the part.
Speaking with Movieline, Hutcherson confirmed reports that he's one of several contenders vying for the lead role in Sony's "Spider-Man" relaunch. The actor said: "It'd be an amazing role, I think. I grew up loving the movies, so we'll see. It'd be an amazing movie to be a part of."
According to Hutcherson, the casting process on "Spider-Man" has taken so long because Sony is "trying to figure out who exactly it is and what they want it to be and lock that down." Read more...

Jonah Hex is a lot of things. He's a killer, an alcoholic, abusive, stubborn, the list goes on — but could he also be a healthy alternative to smoking?
During an interview with MTV News, "Jonah Hex" star Josh Brolin explained why playing DC's scarred bounty hunter forced him to quit his smoking habit cold turkey (among other less-helpful effects).
"It was hard, because I couldn't eat," Brolin told MTV News. "Because I had the mouthpiece in, I couldn't eat for 14-15 hours a day. I had three layers of prosthetics on, I had layers of wool on my body, I had boots that made my feet so swollen that every morning I'd get up and look like Quasimodo trying to get to the bathroom." The cast for director Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class" is starting to come together, with stage actor Benjamin Walker swinging into the role of Henry "Hank" McCoy.
Earlier this week, The New York Times reported that Walker — currently starring in the off-Broadway musical "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" — was offered an unnamed part in the upcoming "X-Men" prequel. Now, Showbiz 411 is reporting that Walker will play McCoy, the brilliant mutant scientist who ultimately becomes the furry blue superhero known as The Beast.
Best known for his role as the titular Andrew Jackson in "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," Walker's few screen credits include "Flags of our Fathers" and "Kinsey." He'll be the second actor to portray Hank McCoy, as Kelsey Grammer previously inhabited the role in Brett Ratner's "X-Men: The Last Stand," the third and final chapter of the original "X-Men" trilogy. Earlier this year, I raved about the musical intro to the "Black Panther" animated series that was set to air outside the U.S. back in January. While I'm not entirely certain what happened to the series — or even if it aired — it looks like it will finally be coming to the U.S. this month in the form of a new, 12-episode animated motion comic.
And it still looks pretty cool. Check it out:
"Black Panther: Who Is The Black Panther?" will be available for download on iTunes, Xbox Live, Playstation Network and various other formats June 23, and it features the same cast of voice actors that impressed the heck out of me back when I initially freaked out about it. Read more...

Just when you thought the Western had hung up its guns, "Jonah Hex" arrives in theaters this weekend.
While "Hex" stars Josh Brolin and Megan Fox are hoping the big-screen debut of DC's scarred bounty hunter does well enough to merit another whiskey-swigging adventure, comic book readers know that Jonah Hex has been kicking ass and slinging a six-shooter for nearly four decades now — and he's not alone. The western hero is not only alive and well in the comic world, there's a multitude of characters and stories to choose from, depending on your personal tastes.
Reckon you'd like to try out a few comics set in the Wild West? Read more...
