Green LanternWe're still waiting to see our first image of Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, DC's ring-wielding cosmic hero, so even the smallest indication of what the actor will look like when his version of Hal Jordan suits up is a big deal.

That's why a pair of photos of a "Green Lantern" poster on the Warner Bros. studio lot are causing quite a bit of buzz around the InterWebs these days.

[UPDATE: IGN reports that the studio has denied that this image is connected with the "Green Lantern" movie or even exists on the Warner Bros. studio lot.]

Posted over at Bleeding Cool, the photos provide yet another piece of the "Green Lantern" puzzle that, since the costume will be a computer-generated effect, is only likely to be solved when the first official photo is released. But that won't stop us from speculating now, will it? Read more...

Jonah Hex"Jonah Hex" stars Josh Brolin and Megan Fox were just two of the stars making an appearance on the red carpet when DC's scarred bounty hunter made his big-screen debut in L.A. this week.

The aforementioned pair were joined by a guest list that included everyone from Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren to heavy-metal rockers Mastodon (how's that for an after-party crowd?), and MTV News managed to snag some photos from the event.

While I'm a little disappointed that Brolin didn't show up on the back of a horse fitted with gatling guns, it looks like there was lots of fun to be had at the "Jonah Hex" premiere — even without dynamite. Read more...

It's no secret that "Jonah Hex" has followed a rough road to the big screen, with changes in directors, much-publicized script revisions, significant tonal shifts, and even a final round of re-shoots before finally making it to theaters.

However, star Josh Brolin has been with the project from the start, so when MTV News sat down with him during the "Jonah Hex" press junket, we had to ask: Is he happy with the final cut of the film?

"Extremely," said Brolin, who admitted that the film "went through a lot of manifestations of what this was going to be, especially in [post-production]." Read more...

Jonah HexIt was just another day in the comics Twitterverse last night before the Lakers beat the Celtic to win the NBA Finals. Jon Favreau was shooting "Cowboys and Aliens." Jimmy Palmiotti was contemplating "Jonah Hex," and Alejandro Arbona was contemplating Marvel-related uses for a vuvuzela.

After the Lakers won, however, the calamity ensuing in Los Angeles became the topic of the night. After jump, you can check out who was happy, who was confused, and who was calling the Twitter Report a failure.

Jonah HexEDITOR'S NOTE: With "Jonah Hex" hitting theaters this weekend, I enlisted longtime "Jonah Hex" comics co-writer Jimmy Palmiotti to share his thoughts on why the character has endured in comics and pop culture for so many decades. -RM

Justin Gray and I have been writing the monthly "Jonah Hex" comic book for DC Comics for over five years now, and its still going strong. A lot of people ask us what the appeal of the character is to readers, and I like to think the appeal happens on a number of levels — some not so obvious.

With the series published now, each and every issue is drawn by the greats in the comic industry, and these stories are told in single-issue fashion, so non-readers can pick up any issue and get brought up to date about the who, what, and where of the character. But when a person looks at a drawing, the brain decides in a split second whether the image is of interest to them — like it or don’t like it, cool or not cool. One look at Jonah Hex and most people think, “Ew, what the hell happened to his face?” This is soon followed by “But he does look cool,” and finally, “What's he about?”

And it's that last stage where the story comes in. Read more...

Michael FassbenderEarlier this month, rumors emerged that Michael Fassbender was being courted to appear in both "X-Men: First Class" and the "Spider-Man" reboot. And apparently, the rumors were true.

Michael Fassbender is in early negotiations to play Magneto in "X-Men: First Class," according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, the report also indicates that Columbia could still woo Fassbender to portray the villain in the next "Spider-Man." Fassbender has previously appeared in "300," "Inglourious Bastards" and "Band of Brothers." He also stars as one of the villains in "Jonah Hex," which hits theaters today.

The story also states that "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Johnson and
Andrew Garfield ("The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus") are also being courted to appear within the movie. Rosamund Pike has previously been rumored to be in consideration for Emma Frost. Read more...

In director Jimmy Hayward's upcoming adaptation of "Jonah Hex," Megan Fox portrays a prostitute named Lilah opposite Josh Brolin in the title role. And while Brolin clearly gets the lion's share of the action, early trailers have revealed that Fox will get her chance for some gunplay as well.

While Fox has previously told MTV News that her character would shoot people in "Jonah Hex," she neglected to mention her previous experience with guns until a recent press junket.

"As a grown adult, I don't mess around with guns at all," confessed Fox. "I have a fear of them. But as a child, I grew up in the South — I grew up in Tennessee — and my dad as a hobby... he used to go kill ducks and bring them home and we would eat them for dinner." Read more...

"Jonah Hex" hits theaters this weekend, and in a new clip released by the studio, we get to see one of the many explosive moments in the film. However, I should probably note that this scene does not involve a horse-mounted gatling gun.

What it does include is a pretty wild train heist that results in a big ol' boom... or two... or six.

Want more? You can check out all of the video we've collected from "Jonah Hex," including a recent clip that explains why you should never ask Jonah Hex about his face, over at Movies.MTV.com.

It was announced earlier this week that Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim had been hired to write a treatment for "The Flash," adding further credibility to reports that DC Entertainment is putting the Scarlet Speedster on the fast track.

There are several factors to consider before "The Flash" moves fully into production, but it's never too early to ponder who might play the titular speedster. As the film is said to focus on Barry Allen — not Wally West, as was the plan for the scrapped "Justice League" film — the actor we're looking for should embody the wits, methodology and courage that Barry is best known for.

After the jump, check out five candidates we'd nominate to play The Flash! Read more...

PriestSony Screen Gems has opted to push back the adaptation of Hyung Min-Woo's "Priest."

According to Superhero Hype, the new release date for "Priest" will be on May 13, 2011. "Priest" was originally going to be released this year on August 27, but was subsequently pushed back to January 2011 when it was decided that the film will be converted into 3-D.
