Comic-Con Green LanternComic-Con 2010 is in the rearview mirror, and this week's top stories were dominated by reports from the big show. Much like at the convention itself, Marvel ruled the headlines with their "Avengers" lineup, among other things.

Still, DC's "Green Lantern" slate had a lot of people talking before, during, and after the show!

Here's a rundown of the Top 10 headlines this week on Splash Page, counting down to the week's biggest story! Read more...

LoreAfter last year's San Diego Comic-Con International, Ashley Wood sold the film rights for "World War Robot" to Jerry Bruckheimer. Keeping his Comic-Con tradition alive, Wood optioned another property coming out of this year's show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wood and his wife/collaborator T.P. Louise have sold the rights for "Lore" to Mad Chance and Circle of Confusion. Cory Goodman ("Priest") and Jeremy Lott are attached to write the screenplay. Goodman has recently written the screenplay for the remake of David Cronenberg's "The Brood."

The story is said to be about a young man who is reluctantly drawn into a secret order calling themselves Shepherds who are charging with protecting humanity from the monsters and witches of folklore. The producers reportedly view "Lore" as a potential "Men in Black" style action-adventure franchise. Read more...

Marvel Punisher rightsMarvel may have regained the movie rights for the Punisher, but not everyone wants them to plow straight ahead into a new film. The Twitter Report covers this perspective, as well as how to talk to your child about Frank Castle today.

In other news, some jerk apparently stole some artwork from ace inker Rick Basaldua at San Diego Comic-Con last week. He tweeted links to some images of what was taken, and I wholeheartedly recommend checking that out after the jump in case you run into any of it on the black market. All of this and reactions to "Project Runway" and the "Thor" trailer await you below.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for July 30, 2010. Read more...

Legendary comic creator Stan Lee is one of my favorite people to talk to in the industry, so it's probably no surprise that I asked him to come down to Splash Page HQ for a chat during Comic-Con.

Despite a schedule so busy it would make your head spin, the co-creator of Spider-Man, Hulk, the X-Men, and countless characters took some time to discuss his upcoming projects with me — as well as his cameos in nearly every movie based on one of his characters these days.

"I've already done the cameo in 'Thor,' and with 'Captain America,' they're shooting it in England," Lee told MTv News. "I really don't have time to go to England, but I think they might shoot some scenes here, so I'll get a chance to be in that one, too." Read more...

Blake Lively appears to be right at home on "Green Lantern" movie posters, and she's even looking ahead to her character's likely fall toward villainy. She had a burning desire to be cast in a superhero film, though, and even though she wanted to be a part of such a project, she admitted that "Green Lantern" wasn't first on her list of priorities.

"'Green Lantern' wasn't," Lively told MTV News, "I didn't know about 'Green Lantern.' That's what's so exciting about it. I was just saying, you know, to get to introduce it to a young generation is a cool thing." Read more...

Tom WellingWith the tenth and final season of "Smallville" coming this fall, one of the main questions on the minds of the fans is whether Tom Welling's Clark Kent will finally step up and become Superman. And according to Welling, it will finally happen.

"Yeah, that's the plan," Welling told The Flickcast, when asked if he would become Superman this season. "I don't know how they're going to do it, but I know that inevitably, that's where we get to."

"[The Superman costume] looks good," added Welling. "I wasn't there when they shot it on set. I was actually on another stage shooting something else. But I know what it looks like." Read more...

Boiler PlateBad Robot may have just picked up its first... good robot.

J.J. Abrams and his company Bad Robot have picked up the rights to “Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be produced at Paramount and is based upon the graphic novel of the same name by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett. Outlaw Productions's Deborah Newmyer ("The Ugly Truth") brought the project to Bad Robot and will stay on board as a producer.

"Boilerplate" was created back in 2000 by Guinan as part of a online graphic novel pitch that featured a late 19th century Victorian era robot interacting with a number of historical figures like Teddy Roosevelt and Pancho Villa in convincingly photoshopped pictures that led some visitors to believe that Boilerplate was a real robot. The "Boilerplate" graphic novel was finally released last year by Abrams Image. Read more...

When it was announced earlier this year that "High School Musical" actor Zac Efron had signed on to star in the film adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' "Fire," it's fair to say that more than a few eyebrows were raised. Call us pleasantly surprised, however, when we learned that Efron is not only a big Bendis fan, but that he has a solid grasp on the character and can't wait to start production on the film.

"Brian Bendis is writing a script right now," Efron told MTV News of the "Fire" production status, while promoting his latest film, "Charlie St. Cloud." "I don’t know when we are getting a draft exactly. But I know that he’s having a blast and Brian is one of my favorite writers. I'm really looking forward to that, we’ll see what happens." Worry not, Punisher fans — Frank Castle has come home.

Announced at the Marvel Studios panel at Comic-Con, the rights for the Punisher have returned to Marvel, allowing the studio to put their character back on the big or small screen in anyway that they see fit. It's excellent news for Castle fans who feel the character hasn't gotten the proper live-action treatment he deserves. With Marvel back at the helm, it's a sure bet that Punisher is going to head back to theaters with a vengeance sometime in the near future.

But with three actors having played Castle over the last 21 years, who could possibly fill the street-level judge, jury and executioner's shoes next? After the jump, you can check out some of our suggestions for who Marvel should cast as the next Punisher! Read more...

Dead@17Back in March, "Dead@17" creator Josh Howard told MTV News that Dennis Iliadis ("Last House On The Left") had signed on to direct the potential feature film adaptation. And now the project has a new screenwriter as well.

Javier Grillo-Marxuach recently left the following statement on Twitter: "Oh, here's another riddle - what has two thumbs and is adapting Josh Howard's 'Dead@17' for the movies?" Howard later confirmed the news after posting an update of his own: "Met with the writer of the (potential) 'Dead@17' movie yesterday. Despite my fears, it went very well. Nara and Hazy are in good hands."

Last year, Howard revealed that "Superman Returns" and “X2: X-Men United” screenwriter Mike Dougherty was attached to adapt it and mentioned that “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens was being pursued to play the lead character, Nara Kilday. Read more...
