The leaked concept art for Chris Evans' Captain America costume in "The First Avenger: Captain America" applied a modern update to some classic elements, and Marvel's leading man likes what he sees.
Evans was a "little scared" when he first signed on to play Steve Rogers, but his own descriptions of his suit and potential shield designs make it sound like he's significantly more comfortable with his part now β or at the very least, well-versed in Cap's backstory.
"It's an amazing costume," Evans told Empire. "Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and itβs tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top β and given the fact that the movie takes place in the '40s and '50s β they've done a really good job of making it look really cool."
The "Losers" and "Fantastic Four" actor also revealed that Marvel made multiple prospective shields for Cap.
"We've been testing a lot of shields," he explained. "Last time I was in London they had six shields and I had to hold each one, see if I was comfortable with each one, see which one we all thought had the right look."
Cap fans will be the final judges when Evans gets to theaters in 2011, but Evans' word will have to suffice for the time being. Personally, I think how well he pulls off the shield throw will go long way with how he's received.
